New games this week: Modern Warfare 4, Final Fantasy Resonance and Switch Sports Resort lead Oct. 19 to 23
The week of Oct. 19 to 23, 2026, ends with its biggest launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, on Friday, Oct. 23, at $69.99. Thursday, Oct. 22, is the other big day, with Square Enix's Final Fantasy Resonance at $49.99 on every major platform, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort at $49.99 on Switch 2 and the co-op climbing game Peak on PS5. Earlier in the week, Mycopunk launches on PS5 straight into PS Plus on Oct. 20.

Next week’s new games build up to one big Friday. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives on Oct. 23, but Thursday, Oct. 22, is busier: Final Fantasy Resonance, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort and the PS5 version of Peak all launch that day.
Release dates below are for the US. Prices are the standard editions where the publisher or store lists one.
Oct. 19 to 21: Mycopunk, We Were Here Tomorrow and Shoresy
The week opens on Monday, Oct. 19, with Shoresy: Legends of the North on Xbox, a $14.99 hockey RPG set in the world of Shoresy, where you create a skater and join the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs.
Tuesday, Oct. 20, brings Mycopunk to PS5. The four-player co-op shooter against fungal aliens launches straight into the PS Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium members on day one. On PC, it has been in early access on Steam since July 2025 at $14.99. The same day, We Were Here Tomorrow, the next co-op puzzle game in the We Were Here series, comes out on PC and Xbox, with two players trapped inside a research facility under the ice of Antarctica.
Also on Xbox on Oct. 20: the story-driven horror shooter Hail to the Rainbow ($14.99), already out on PC, and the football game Elite Sports Gaming Football. Wednesday, Oct. 21, is quiet, with the 2D platformer CyberBot: Zero on Xbox Series X|S.
Oct. 22: Final Fantasy Resonance, Switch Sports Resort and Peak on PS5
Final Fantasy Resonance launches on Thursday, Oct. 22, on Switch 2, Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, at $49.99. It’s the first Final Fantasy made in Square Enix’s HD-2D style, which mixes pixel-art characters with 3D worlds, and it’s a classic turn-based RPG with airships, crystals, espers and moogles. A demo covering the opening through Chapter 1 is already out, and saves carry over to the full game.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort ($49.99) comes out the same day, only on Switch 2, with 12 motion-control sports, among them bowling, basketball and skateboarding. Switch 2 also gets Azure Striker Gunvolt Trilogy Enhanced ($49.99) and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves on Oct. 22. Peak, the co-op climbing game from Aggro Crab and Landfall, reaches PS5 on Oct. 22. Up to four scouts climb a mountain on a mysterious island while managing hunger, injuries and stamina. The PS5 version includes every update since the PC launch, and crossplay lets you climb with friends on other platforms. On Steam, it costs $7.99.
Xbox players also get Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest ($29.99) on Oct. 22, an action-adventure game based on the Warrior Cats books, which follows on Switch 2 and Steam on Oct. 23. Moadra, a sci-fi action game set on a desert planet, and the online co-op horror game Dreadway also launch on Xbox that day.
Oct. 23: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches worldwide on Friday, Oct. 23, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2, at $69.99. It’s the first Call of Duty on Switch 2, and it isn’t part of Game Pass at launch. Any digital pre-order unlocks the full campaign early, starting Oct. 16. Switch 2 also gets One Piece: Grand Gourmet on Oct. 23. On Xbox, the day brings the horror sequel House 2, already on PC since Aug. 28, the shop-management game The Walking Trade, the co-op platformer Carry The Glass and the horror game Fire and Ashes.
PS Plus, DMZ early access and other updates this week
Tuesday, Oct. 20, is a big day for subscribers. Mafia: The Old Country and Horizon Forbidden West join the PS Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium, and Premium adds Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition; the full list is on our PS Plus October 2026 page.
The same day, Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ mode opens early for everyone with a digital pre-order, and Helldivers 2 gets its Scope of Authority Premium Warbond, with the R-40 Sightliner bolt-action sniper rifle and the AMW-20 Apex anti-materiel rifle.
