LoL Worlds 2027: South Korea hosts, with MSI 2027 in Europe and First Stand in Southeast Asia
The 2027 League of Legends World Championship takes place in South Korea, according to Riot Games, which named its 2027 host regions on Jan. 8, 2025. It's the fourth Worlds in Korea, after 2014, 2018 and 2023. The same announcement sends MSI 2027 to Europe and the First Stand tournament to Southeast Asia, which makes 2027 the first season with Worlds in Korea and MSI in Europe since 2023. Riot hasn't named cities, venues, dates or ticket prices for any of the three events. Our estimate, based on the Worlds 2026 schedule, puts Worlds 2027 between mid-October and mid-November 2027, MSI between late June and mid-July and First Stand in March.

Worlds goes back to Korea in 2027, and MSI heads to Europe. Here’s what Riot has confirmed for the 2027 League of Legends season, and what it hasn’t announced yet.
Where is Worlds 2027?
In South Korea. Riot Games named its 2027 host regions on Jan. 8, 2025, in its look at the 2025 season and beyond: First Stand goes to Southeast Asia, MSI returns to Europe, and Worlds is hosted in Korea once again. Riot hasn’t named the cities or venues for any of the three. Korea is home to the LCK, the league of T1, Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports.
It’s the fourth Worlds in Korea, after 2014, 2018 and 2023. Riot’s own history of those events is mixed for home fans: Samsung White won in Seoul in 2014, and in 2018 no Korean team made the semifinals, the only time that has happened outside the very first Worlds.
When is Worlds 2027?
Riot hasn’t set dates. The closest guide is Worlds 2026, which runs from Oct. 15 to Nov. 14, 2026: Play-In in Los Angeles, the Swiss Stage and knockouts in Allen, Texas, and the Grand Final at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Our estimate for Worlds 2027 is the same window, mid-October to mid-November 2027.
Worlds 2026 also shows the format Riot uses. It has 19 teams, three each from the LCK, LCS, LCP, LEC and LPL, two from Brazil’s CBLOL and extra slots tied to MSI results, with a Play-In, a Swiss Stage and a knockout bracket. Riot hasn’t announced the Worlds 2027 format or how many teams qualify. For the current event, see our Worlds 2026 schedule and results page.
MSI 2027 goes to Europe
The Mid-Season Invitational returns to Europe in 2027, Riot says, without naming a country. Europe last hosted MSI in London in 2023, and before that in Reykjavík in 2021 and in Berlin and Paris in 2018.
MSI has kept a steady slot in the calendar. MSI 2025 ran from June 27 to July 12 in Vancouver, and MSI 2026 from June 28 to July 12 at the Daejeon Convention Center in South Korea, where Hanwha Life Esports won. Our estimate for MSI 2027 is late June to mid-July 2027.
First Stand 2027 in Southeast Asia
First Stand, the early-season tournament for the champions of each region’s first split, heads to Southeast Asia in 2027. Riot hasn’t named the country. The first edition ran from March 10 to 16, 2025, at LoL Park in Seoul, and the second from March 16 to 22, 2026, at the Riot Games Arena in São Paulo. Our estimate for First Stand 2027 is March 2027.
Worlds 2027 tickets
Riot hasn’t opened sales or named a ticket seller for 2027. For Worlds 2026, Riot announced in March that tickets would come in mid to late July, and sales opened that month. MSI 2026 in Daejeon sold tickets in waves through NOL World, and Korean ticket sales required a Korean resident registration number, a detail fans abroad should watch for when Worlds 2027 sales open.
Our guide to the Nov. 14 final in Brooklyn, with times and ticket details, is the Worlds 2026 finals page.
What Worlds in Korea looked like in 2023
Riot’s last Worlds in Korea gives a sense of the scale. For the 2023 final weekend, Riot set up a Worlds Fan Fest in Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul, on the eve of the final, with a giant Teemo, game booths and a Riot Music concert featuring (G)I-DLE, and Riot’s team in Seoul planned for more than 10,000 people in the square. Korean band FT Island covered Warriors, the anthem of Korea’s first Worlds in 2014, and a drone show lit up the Seoul sky with the Worlds logo.
One of Riot’s organizers in Seoul called it the biggest event of their Riot career. The 2027 edition returns to the same fans four years later, and Riot hasn’t announced its fan events yet.
Can T1 defend the title at home?
T1 won Worlds in 2023, 2024 and 2025, the first of them in Seoul, and started Worlds 2026 as the three-time defending champion. Whoever wins in Brooklyn on Nov. 14, 2026, arrives in Korea as the team to beat, and LCK teams get home crowds at Worlds for the first time since 2023. The Swiss Stage of Worlds 2026 starts on Oct. 23, as our Swiss Stage draw page explains.
The rest of the 2027 esports calendar
League of Legends isn’t the only esport with 2027 dates. Riot’s Valorant season ends with Champions 2027 in Austin, Texas, as our VCT 2027 schedule page details, and our Esports World Cup 2027 page covers the summer event in Riyadh.
This page is updated as soon as Riot names the cities, venues or dates for Worlds 2027, MSI 2027 or First Stand 2027.
