Both teams come from Korea’s LCK. T1 finished third there in September, losing twice to Hanwha Life Esports, and went out of MSI 2026 in Daejeon after a 3-1 loss to G2 on July 8. Dplus KIA finished fourth and played neither First Stand nor MSI, so Worlds is its first Riot international event of the season.
Seven LCK series in 2026
The rivalry ran all year. T1 swept the first meeting 3-0 on Jan. 31, and Dplus KIA answered with a 3-2 win in the Split 1 playoffs on Feb. 22. In the spring, DK won 2-1 on April 17 and T1 won 2-0 on May 10. The summer split went 2-0 to T1 on Aug. 6 and 2-1 to DK on Aug. 14. The last series came in the LCK playoffs on Sept. 6, where T1 won 3-1 and sent DK to fourth place.
