GTA 6 file size: how many GB do you need?
Nobody outside Rockstar knows yet. The GTA 6 file size has not been announced, and neither the PlayStation Store nor the Microsoft Store lists the full download. Preload starts November 12, so the real number will show up by then.
- PS5
- PS5 Pro
- Xbox Series X|S
The GTA 6 file size has not been announced. Rockstar Games has not published how many gigabytes Grand Theft Auto VI needs, and as of October 14, 2026, neither the PlayStation Store nor the Microsoft Store shows the full install size.
Why the Microsoft Store says 344 MB
If you look at the Xbox listing’s technical data, you will find a package of about 344.7 MB. That is not GTA 6. It is a placeholder for the preload system — the small file that sits in the store until the real download is released to pre-order customers. The PlayStation Store lists no size at all.

Disc buyers download too
The boxed edition does not save you the download. Rockstar says the physical version contains “a download code inside the box.” Plan your storage the same way whether you buy digital or boxed.
