Baldur's Gate 3 Switch 2 release date: Larian hasn't announced it, but Divinity: Original Sin 2 made the jump

Larian’s last RPG made it to Switch 2 in December 2025. The far bigger Baldur’s Gate 3 still hasn’t been announced for any Nintendo console. Here’s what Larian has and hasn’t said.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 coming to Switch 2?

Larian Studios hasn’t announced it, so there’s no release date. Larian’s official FAQ says the game is available on PC through Steam and GOG, PS5, Xbox, Mac and GeForce NOW. It came out on PC on Aug. 3, 2023, and has never been released on a Nintendo console.

The game is big. Its Steam page asks for 150 GB of available space, while Nintendo Switch 2 has 256 GB of internal storage, according to Nintendo. On Steam, Baldur’s Gate 3 costs $59.99, when we checked on Oct. 17, 2026.

What did Larian bring to Switch 2 instead?

Its previous RPG. Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition came out on Dec. 15, 2025, the same day as on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. Nintendo’s US eShop sells it for $49.99, and it’s rated M for Mature by the ESRB. Owners of the original Switch version can download the upgrade for free, and Larian says the upgrade costs ¥100 in Japan.

Larian says it’s not a remake or a remaster, but the 2017 game on current consoles. You can play alone, online or in couch co-op, with a party of up to four. Nintendo’s store data puts the Switch 2 Edition at about 30.6 GB, compared with about 11.3 GB for the Switch version.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 still getting updates?

Only small ones. Larian called Patch 8, released on April 15, 2025, its last major update for the game. It added cross-play, 12 new subclasses, a photo mode and split screen on Xbox Series S. Hotfix #34 in September 2025 brought a native Steam Deck build, which Larian says gives a more stable frame rate and shorter loading times, and the latest, Hotfix #36, came out on March 26, 2026.

For now, that native build is the closest thing to a portable version of Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian.

What is Larian making next?

Divinity, a new RPG that Larian revealed at The Game Awards in December 2025. Larian hasn’t announced a release date. It says the game tells a completely new story, with some continuity and characters for players of the earlier Divinity games.
