FF7 Remake on Switch 2: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade costs $39.99, needs 90.4 GB and has a free demo

The first part of the remake trilogy runs on Nintendo’s console, and you can try it before paying. Here’s what Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade costs on Switch 2 and what comes with it.

When did FF7 Remake come out on Switch 2?

On Jan. 22, 2026, the same day as on Xbox Series X and S. Square Enix announced the date on Sept. 12, 2025. The game first came out on PS4 in 2020, and Intergrade, the expanded edition, followed on PS5 on June 10, 2021, and on Steam on June 17, 2022.

Nintendo’s US eShop sells it for $39.99, the same as Steam, and it’s rated T for Teen by the ESRB. It retells the story up to the escape from Midgar and includes FF7R Episode INTERmission, where you play as Yuffie Kisaragi, plus bonus gear like the Cacstar weapon and the Carbuncle, Chocobo Chick and Cactuar summoning materia. The Digital Deluxe Edition, at $59.99, adds a digital art book and a digital mini soundtrack, which you view through Square Enix’s own website with a Square Enix account.

How big is it, and how does it run?

Nintendo’s store data puts the download at 90.4 GB, so most players will need a microSD Express card or a lot of free internal storage. The game plays in TV, tabletop and handheld modes, supports HDR output on compatible TVs and surround sound, and cloud saves need a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Neither Nintendo’s store page nor Square Enix’s announcements list a frame rate or resolution.

The Switch 2 version launched with Streamlined Progression, an optional set of settings with unlimited HP and MP, an unlimited limit and ATB gauge in battle, 9,999 damage and easier weapon ability unlocks. Square Enix says you can adjust each option at any time, and the same feature reached the PS5 and PC versions in a patch.

Is there a free demo and a physical copy?

Both. Square Enix released a free demo on Switch 2 on Dec. 17, 2025, with the opening chapter, where Cloud and Avalanche attack a Mako Reactor. Your demo save carries over to the full game, and having it on your console unlocks the Revival Earrings and Survival Set items.

Square Enix also released a physical Switch 2 edition, which came with a Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Play Booster of 15 random cards while supplies lasted. Nintendo’s US store sells only the digital editions. Digital buyers until Jan. 31, 2026, also got the original Final Fantasy VII.

What comes after Remake on Switch 2?

The rest of the trilogy. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth reached Switch 2 on June 3, 2026, and your Remake Intergrade saves unlock the Leviathan summon from the main story and Ramuh from Yuffie’s episode there. The third and final part, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, comes out on April 8, 2027, on Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X and S and PC.
