Divinity release date: Larian hasn't announced one, and the game goes through early access first
Divinity has no release date. Larian Studios revealed the game at The Game Awards on Dec. 11, 2025, and hasn't announced a date, a year, platforms or a price since. Larian's founder and game director Swen Vincke has described it as a turn-based RPG and said it will launch in early access before its full release, as Baldur's Gate 3 did. Larian calls it an RPG with greater breadth and depth than any it has made, built by the team behind Baldur's Gate 3, and it returns to Rivellon, the world of Divinity: Original Sin 2. Larian’s next RPG has a name, a world and a trailer, but no date. Here’s what Larian has confirmed about Divinity, how its early access works and what to watch next.
When is the Divinity release date?
Larian Studios hasn’t announced one. It revealed Divinity at The Game Awards on Dec. 11, 2025, with a cinematic trailer, and the official site carries no release date, year or platform list as of Oct. 19, 2026. Larian’s Divinity press kit dates from December 2025.
The studio’s site sums up the setting in one line: “The gods are silent. Rivellon bleeds. New powers stir.” It calls the game an RPG with greater breadth and depth than ever before, built by the team that made Baldur’s Gate 3.
Divinity goes through early access first
Larian founder Swen Vincke, the game’s director, said in December 2025 that Divinity will release in early access before its full launch. That’s how Larian has made its last three RPGs: players buy the game early, play its opening act and send feedback while the studio builds the rest.
Baldur’s Gate 3 entered early access on Oct. 6, 2020, and launched in full on Aug. 3, 2023, almost three years later. Larian hasn’t said how long Divinity’s early access will run or when it opens, so the early access date will be the first one to watch.
A turn-based RPG in Rivellon
Vincke described Divinity as a turn-based RPG that brings everything Larian has done before to the next level. It returns to Rivellon, the world of the Divinity series, where Divinity: Original Sin 2 let you create your own hero or play one of six origin characters, and a party of up to four could chase the chance to become a god.
Larian kept the title to a single word, Divinity, rather than calling it Original Sin 3. The reveal trailer opens on a walled medieval city, and the art on Larian’s site shows a burning effigy of thorns and a masked figure carrying a flaming chalice.
Platforms
Larian hasn’t announced platforms. Its recent history points to PC first: Baldur’s Gate 3 opened its early access on PC, launched in full on PC, then reached PS5, Xbox Series X and S and Mac in the months after. Divinity: Original Sin 2, which came out on Sept. 14, 2017, reached Switch 2 on Dec. 15, 2025.
Price

The Divinity games to play before it
Larian has made Divinity games since Divine Divinity, and the whole series sells on Steam. Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity cost $5.99 each, Divinity II: Developer’s Cut $19.99, Divinity: Dragon Commander and Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition $39.99 each, and Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition $44.99. The Divinity Anthology bundle costs $29.99.
Original Sin 2 is the best place to start: it’s the most recent game set in Rivellon, it has six origin characters and co-op for up to four players, and it runs on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S and Switch 2. Larian also makes Divinity: Original Sin - The Boardgame, which it demoed at PAX West in Seattle from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, 2025.
What Larian has said since the reveal
Larian hosted a Divinity question-and-answer session on Reddit on Jan. 9, 2026, with Vincke and other studio leads. Divinity has no store page on Steam as of Oct. 19, 2026.
Larian has also wrapped up Baldur’s Gate 3: Patch 8 in April 2025 was its final major patch, and the studio ruled out expansions, as our Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC page explains. Larian said then that it was going back to its cave to focus on its next project.
What to watch next
