Warzone comes to Switch 2 on Nov. 6 as a free game, with Season 1 at midnight ET

Warzone launches in full on a Nintendo console for the first time on Nov. 6, after a Resurgence preview in the Modern Warfare 4 beta, and it costs nothing to download. Here’s when it unlocks, what’s in it on day one and what happens to your progress.

At midnight ET on Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, the start of Season 1. Activision’s Nov. 2 post says the season goes live at the same moment on all platforms, and that its start marks Warzone’s launch on Switch 2. Here’s the hour around the world:

The full Season 1 lineup, according to Activision, which says Switch 2 players drop into Hajin, Zodiac and all the other maps and playlists. Hajin is the new Battle Royale map, on the Korean Peninsula and tied to the Modern Warfare 4 campaign. Zodiac is the new Resurgence map, built around a drone factory in South Korea. Verdansk and Rebirth Island return later in Season 1.

At launch, the modes are Battle Royale and Resurgence with Casual versions of each, plus three limited-time modes: Rally Point for 20 players, Massive Resurgence on Hajin for 120 and Loaded Resurgence for 44. Extreme Resurgence and Rockets and Snipers follow at midseason. Season 1 also brings all 33 Modern Warfare 4 launch weapons into Warzone, resets player levels and makes Tactical Sprint available to every operator without a perk, with a slightly shorter duration.

Activision hasn’t listed Warzone’s controls on Switch 2. Modern Warfare 4 on the console supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, gyro aiming, the Switch 2 Pro Controller, HDR and handheld play, according to Activision’s beta post.

Your operators, skins and blueprints from earlier games. Activision says operators, skins and blueprints from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 stay available in Warzone from Season 1, and weapons from those games move to a Legacy tab. It stops on the same night. Activision says Warzone will no longer be playable on PS4 and Xbox One from Season 1, and progress moves to a supported platform when you sign in with the same linked Activision account. Switch 2 joins that list as the older consoles leave it.
