Persona 6 release date: Atlus hasn't set one yet, but it's coming to PS5, Xbox, PC and Switch 2

Persona 6 doesn't have a release date. Atlus revealed it with a short teaser at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026, and SEGA lists the date as TBD, with no year or season attached. It's coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC through Steam and the Xbox app, and Xbox Game Pass, and a Nintendo Switch 2 version was added at the Sept. 9 Nintendo Direct. The story is new and standalone, set in modern-day Japan. Atlus's next release is Persona 4 Revival, a remake due on Feb. 18, 2027.

There’s no Persona 6 release date yet. Atlus has shown the game once, in a dark 79-second teaser in June, and since then it has only added one platform, Switch 2. Here’s everything that’s official, and where a date could come from.

When is Persona 6 coming out?

Atlus revealed Persona 6 at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026. SEGA’s announcement lists the release date as TBD, and the Steam page says it’s to be announced. Neither gives a year, a season or a window, and as of Oct. 16, 2026, nothing has changed.

The game is made by P-Studio, the Atlus team behind the Persona series, and published by SEGA. It’s the first new numbered Persona since Persona 5.

Atlus already has a big release scheduled before it. Persona 4 Revival, a full remake of Persona 4 Golden, comes out on Feb. 18, 2027, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and on May 20, 2027, on Switch 2. SEGA pointed fans to that remake in the same announcement that revealed Persona 6.

Which platforms Persona 6 is coming to

At the reveal, SEGA announced Persona 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PCs, Steam and Xbox Game Pass. The Xbox store lists it as an Xbox Play Anywhere game, which means one purchase works on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs, and it lists 4K, 60 fps and single-player support.

A Nintendo Switch 2 version followed on Sept. 9, 2026, during that day’s Nintendo Direct. SEGA confirmed it in a Japanese announcement the next day, listing Switch 2 alongside every other platform. SEGA didn’t release a new Persona 6 trailer with it, and Atlus hasn’t said whether all versions launch on the same day.

Steam lists full voice acting in English and Japanese and text in 15 languages. There’s no price and no pre-order yet, only wishlists on Steam, the PlayStation Store and the Xbox store.

What Atlus has revealed about the story

The official description is short. Persona 6 is a standalone story with a new cast, set in modern-day Japan. As in earlier games, you split your time between daily school life, with friendships and romance, and supernatural adventure. The Steam page sums it up as “Live a Double Life in Modern-Day Japan.”

The mystery side involves strange rumors, urban legends and occult incidents hidden in familiar streets and quiet neighborhoods. You awaken a Persona, a manifestation of your inner self, find others who share the power, and grow stronger through the bonds you form with them.

The teaser doesn’t show a single character. It’s a string of horror-style images, including a rainy graveyard lit in toxic green, hands pointing at a board covered in symbols and a figure standing in dark water, before the logo appears. Atlus says no earlier Persona game is needed, and the series has sold more than 30 million copies since it started in 1996.

What the leaks got right, and what’s still unconfirmed

Persona 6 leaked before the reveal. The leaks described a green look for the logo, and the teaser matched it.

Other claims are still just claims. Some leaks point to a release in 2027, and a few mention a specific season. Atlus hasn’t confirmed any window, a protagonist or a single gameplay detail, and the game’s store pages carry no date.

When Atlus could share a date

Atlus hasn’t promised news at any event. The biggest showcase left this year is The Game Awards on Dec. 10, covered on our Game Awards 2026 page. The Switch 2 version makes every Nintendo Direct a possible stage too, and our next Nintendo Direct page tracks when the next one is announced.

The Xbox Games Showcase is another candidate, since that’s where Persona 6 and Persona 4 Revival’s release date were both revealed in June 2026. With Persona 4 Revival due in February, a full Persona 6 trailer could also wait until after that launch. Persona 6 is already on Game Pass’s list of platforms, and our list of new Game Pass games shows what’s joining the service sooner.

This page is updated as soon as Atlus announces a release date, a new trailer or other details about Persona 6.
