Persona 5 Royal on Switch 2: there's no Switch 2 Edition, but the $59.99 Switch version runs on it
There's no Switch 2 Edition of Persona 5 Royal, and Atlus hasn't announced an upgrade for it. The game you can play on Switch 2 is the original Switch version, out since Oct. 21, 2022, which Nintendo's US eShop sells for $59.99. Nintendo lists it as supported on Switch 2, with game behavior consistent with Switch, so it runs, but without a Switch 2 performance patch. Atlus has brought other Persona games to Switch 2 natively: Persona 3 Reload came out there on Oct. 23, 2025, and Persona 4 Revival follows on May 20, 2027.

Persona 5 Royal plays on Switch 2, but it’s still the 2022 Switch version. Here’s what that means and which Persona games run natively on Nintendo’s new console.
Is there a Persona 5 Royal Switch 2 Edition?
No. Atlus hasn’t released a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Persona 5 Royal, and it hasn’t announced an upgrade pack or a performance update. The version you can buy is the Switch release from Oct. 21, 2022, published by SEGA, which Nintendo’s US eShop sells for $59.99, the same as on Steam.
It’s rated M for Mature by the ESRB and includes more than 40 previously released downloadable items, and you can choose between Japanese and English voice acting. Nintendo’s store data puts it at about 14.2 GB.
How does it run on Switch 2?
The same as on Switch. Nintendo’s compatibility listing marks Persona 5 Royal as supported on Switch 2, with game behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. That means it runs, but without a Switch 2 patch, so Atlus hasn’t changed its resolution or frame rate for the new console.
If you bought the game digitally on Switch, you can download it on Switch 2 with the same Nintendo Account, and the physical Switch card works in Switch 2 too.
Which Persona games run natively on Switch 2?
Persona 3 Reload has been on Switch 2 since Oct. 23, 2025, and Nintendo’s US eShop sells it for $59.99. Persona 4 Revival, a full remake of Persona 4 Golden, comes to Switch 2 on May 20, 2027, three months after the other platforms.
Further out, Atlus added Switch 2 to the platforms for Persona 6 in September 2026, without a release date. The other Persona 5 spin-offs on Nintendo hardware, Persona 5 Strikers and Persona 5 Tactica, are Switch games that cost $59.99 each.
Will Persona 5 Royal get a Switch 2 upgrade?
Atlus hasn’t said. Its native Switch 2 Persona releases so far are the newer remakes, and it hasn’t announced plans for a Persona 5 Royal upgrade, an enhanced edition or a new physical release for Switch 2.
