GTA 6 physical copy: no disc, only a download code in the box, shipping from Nov. 12
The GTA 6 physical copy doesn't include a disc. Rockstar says physical versions only contain a download code inside the box, to support preload on Nov. 12, 2026, and that a disc won't be included. That means a boxed copy still needs an internet connection and a PlayStation or Xbox account to download the game. The Rockstar Store starts shipping physical orders on Nov. 12, a week before GTA 6 unlocks on Nov. 19, and after launch it estimates one to seven days for delivery. PlayStation codes are region-locked, so a box shipped to the US or Canada only works on a PlayStation account from one of those two countries. The free month of GTA+ is a bonus for digital pre-orders, so it doesn't come with a boxed copy.

The GTA 6 box won’t have a disc in it. Here’s what you get instead, when it ships and what that means for preload.
Does GTA 6 have a physical disc?
No. Rockstar says the physical version of GTA 6 only contains a download code inside the box, to support preload on Nov. 12, 2026, and that a disc won’t be included. The Rockstar Store calls it a code-in-box version and says it’s available while supplies last.
GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S at midnight ET on Nov. 19, and our GTA 6 preload date page explains how the week before launch works.
What’s in the GTA 6 box
A box and a code. To play, you redeem the code on your console and download the full game, so Rockstar says you need an internet connection and a PlayStation or Xbox account. Rockstar hasn’t announced the download size, and our GTA 6 file size page tracks it.
Rockstar hasn’t announced a disc version for later. The code in the box is the only physical version it has detailed, and owners can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition on PlayStation Store at any time, according to its store.
When the physical copy ships
The Rockstar Store starts shipping physical orders on Nov. 12, 2026, the day preload opens, so a boxed copy can be downloaded during the week before launch. After GTA 6 comes out on Nov. 19, Rockstar estimates one to seven days for physical orders, depending on the shipping option. Some orders arrive in several boxes, each with its own tracking number.
PlayStation codes are region-locked
Rockstar notes that PlayStation codes are region-locked. A box shipped to the US or Canada only works with a PlayStation account registered in one of those two countries. A box shipped to the UK only works with a UK account, and boxes shipped elsewhere in Europe only work with accounts from a list of countries including France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland.
Pre-order bonuses for boxed copies
Every copy ordered before Nov. 20, 2026 gets the Vintage Vice City Pack at no extra cost, according to the Rockstar Store. The free month of GTA+ is different: Rockstar lists it as a digital store pre-order bonus, for pre-orders made on PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store, so a boxed copy doesn’t include it. Prices, editions and the full list of bonuses are on our GTA 6 pre-order page.
This page is updated as soon as Rockstar changes its physical edition details or announces the GTA 6 download size.
