Devil May Cry 6 release date: Capcom hasn't announced it, but Devil May Cry 5 reached Switch 2

Devil May Cry 5 is seven years old, and Capcom hasn’t announced a sixth. Here’s what’s official about Devil May Cry 6, and what the series is doing instead.

When does Devil May Cry 6 come out?

There’s no release date, because Capcom hasn’t announced Devil May Cry 6. It hasn’t revealed a sequel, a platform or a trailer, and dates and videos shared online under the Devil May Cry 6 name aren’t official.

The latest game, Devil May Cry 5, came out in March 2019 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. By simple arithmetic, that’s seven and a half years as of October 2026. It won awards at the Japan Game Awards 2019 and The Game Awards 2019, and it has sold 12.3 million copies as of June 30, 2026, according to Capcom.

Devil May Cry 5 on Switch 2

Instead of a sequel, Capcom brought Devil May Cry 5 to Nintendo’s new console. Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition came out digitally on Switch 2 on June 23, 2026, and as a physical game on Aug. 28, 2026. It’s the 2019 game with a host of extra content, playable on the TV or in handheld mode. On Steam, Devil May Cry 5 is regularly $29.99.

The Netflix series is ending

Devil May Cry’s biggest new story in years is on Netflix. Capcom says the animated series drew 21.7 million views with season 1 in 2025 and 6.4 million views in the first two weeks of season 2, which premiered in May 2026. On June 10, 2026, Capcom announced season 3 as the final chapter. Netflix hasn’t announced a date.

How big Devil May Cry is

Capcom started the series in 2001, and Devil May Cry games have sold 41 million copies as of June 30, 2026. Capcom calls it one of its major brands. For Capcom’s other big series, see our Resident Evil 10 release date and Okami 2 release date pages.

Konami hasn’t announced a new numbered Metal Gear either; see our Metal Gear Solid 6 release date page.

This page is updated as soon as Capcom announces Devil May Cry 6 or Netflix dates the final season.
