Metal Gear Solid 6 release date: not announced, and Konami is bringing back older games instead

Metal Gear Solid V is 11 years old, and Konami hasn’t announced a sixth. Here’s what’s official about Metal Gear Solid 6 and what Konami is doing with the series instead.

When does Metal Gear Solid 6 come out?

There’s no release date, because Konami hasn’t announced Metal Gear Solid 6. It hasn’t revealed a new numbered game, a platform or a trailer, and dates and videos shared online under that name aren’t official.

The last new numbered game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, came out on Sept. 1, 2015. By simple arithmetic, that’s 11 years as of September 2026. It’s $19.99 on Steam before discounts.

The Snake Eater remake

Instead of a sequel, Konami remade a classic. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, came out on Aug. 28, 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. It passed 1 million copies after launch and 2 million by March 10, 2026, Konami said. On Steam it’s $49.99 before discounts.

Master Collection Vol. 2

On Aug. 27, 2026, Konami released Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 on Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Steam. It includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, with Metal Gear: Ghost Babel as bonus content, plus screenplay books, master books and a soundtrack. It’s $49.99 on Steam. Konami hasn’t announced a Vol. 3.
