Cyberpunk 2077 DLC: is there a new expansion in 2026, what Phantom Liberty costs and every free update

Cyberpunk 2077’s only paid DLC is Phantom Liberty, and CD Projekt Red hasn’t announced another expansion. Here’s what Phantom Liberty adds and costs, what came free and where Cyberpunk is headed next.

Is there new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC?

CD Projekt Red hasn’t announced any. Cyberpunk 2077 launched on Dec. 10, 2020, and its one paid expansion, Phantom Liberty, followed on Sept. 26, 2023. CD Projekt said in 2022 that Phantom Liberty would be the game’s only expansion, and the studio has kept to that plan.

Since then, the game has grown through free updates, the last big one Update 2.3 on July 17, 2025, followed by Patch 2.31 on Sept. 11, 2025, and a free PS5 Pro update on April 8, 2026. The game also celebrated its fifth anniversary in December 2025. Expected price for any new Cyberpunk 2077 expansion: about $29.99, our estimate, the price of Phantom Liberty.

What Phantom Liberty adds

Phantom Liberty is a spy-thriller. V, the cyber-enhanced mercenary of the main game, takes on a high-stakes mission of espionage to save the president of the New United States of America, with the help of secret agent Solomon Reed.

The story plays out in Dogtown, a new walled-off district and the most dangerous part of Night City, ruled by the arms dealer and warlord Kurt Hansen. It brings new missions, gigs and gear and a new ending for the main game. Owners can also start a new game with a character already leveled up for the expansion and jump straight into its story.

Phantom Liberty price and editions

Phantom Liberty costs $29.99 on Steam and was $17.99, 40% off, in the sale on Oct. 19, 2026. The base game was $17.99 too, 70% off its $59.99 price, so the game and the expansion together cost $35.98.

The Ultimate Edition bundles the game with Phantom Liberty. On Switch 2, where Cyberpunk 2077 arrived on June 5, 2025, it costs $69.99 on the Nintendo US store, as our Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 page explains. Phantom Liberty runs on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, PC and Switch 2, and the PS4 and Xbox One versions don’t get it.

Is Phantom Liberty worth it?

Yes. At $17.99 in the sale, Phantom Liberty costs less than a third of a new full-price game and adds a complete story with its own cast, a new district and a new way to end V’s story. It also brings the Relic skill tree, new weapons, cyberware and vehicles and new gigs across Dogtown, and it has sold 15 million copies in less than three years.

Owners of the PS4 or Xbox One version can move to the PS5 or Xbox Series X and S version through CD Projekt Red’s free upgrade and buy the expansion there.

Every free update and DLC

The free content started at launch with the Cyberpunk 2077 Bonus Content pack, which includes the original score, an art booklet, a digital comic, the Cyberpunk 2020 sourcebook and wallpapers. The REDmod modding tools followed for free on Sept. 6, 2022.

Update 2.0, on Sept. 21, 2023, overhauled core systems such as the police and the perk trees for every player. Update 2.1, on Dec. 5, 2023, added the NCART metro with 19 stations on five lines, the Radioport for listening to the radio on foot, repeatable car races and hangouts with love interests. Update 2.2, on Dec. 10, 2024, added more than 100 customization options for V, CrystalCoat paint for more car brands and a bigger Photo Mode.

Update 2.3, on July 17, 2025, added four vehicles, the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru, the Rayfield Caliburn Mordred, the Yaiba ASM-R250 Muramasa and the Chevillon Legatus 450 Aquila, plus AutoDrive, self-driving Delamain cabs, FSR 3.1 frame generation, XeSS 2.0 and HDR10+. The game came to Macs with Apple silicon the same day.

Cyberpunk 2 instead of more DLC

The next Cyberpunk story is Cyberpunk 2, previously codenamed Project Orion. CD Projekt Red said on Sept. 3, 2026, that it’s in preproduction, with 184 developers as of July 31, 2026, led by the studio’s hub in Boston, which includes a team in Vancouver. The studio’s release plan through 2028 covers only Witcher games, with The Witcher 4 targeting 2028.

Cyberpunk 2077 sales

CD Projekt announced on July 3, 2026, that Cyberpunk 2077 had sold 40 million copies, counting the base game and the Ultimate Edition, nearly six years after launch, and that Phantom Liberty had sold 15 million copies in less than three years.
