Clockwork Revolution release date: 2027, on Xbox and PC, and it's not coming to PS5

inXile’s steampunk time-travel RPG is set for 2027, and it’s staying on Xbox and PC. Here’s what’s official.

When does Clockwork Revolution come out?

In 2027, with no exact day. inXile Entertainment showed a new trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026, and Game Director Chad Moore wrote that the team is hard at work and wants you to play it next year. The Steam page also lists 2027.

There’s no price yet and pre-orders aren’t open, but you can wishlist it on Steam. The game was first announced at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 11, 2023, and got a longer trailer at the 2025 show.

Is Clockwork Revolution on PS5?

No. In its showcase recap of June 7, 2026, Xbox said Clockwork Revolution and Gears of War: E-Day will be Xbox console exclusives, and that they aren’t timed exclusives. So the game is coming to Xbox Series X and S, to PC through the Xbox app and Steam, and to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

It will be included with Game Pass, and it’s an Xbox Play Anywhere game, so buying it once covers both Xbox and PC. The same exclusive plan applies to E-Day, as our Gears of War: E-Day on PS5 page explains.

What is Clockwork Revolution about?

It’s a first-person action RPG set in Avalon, a steampunk city that stays polished on top while the people of the Tangle, its ash-choked lower streets, pay the cost. You play Morgan Vanette, a member of the Rotten Row Hooligans gang, and you design Morgan’s look and skills at the start.

Avalon’s ruler, Lady Ironwood, has been using time travel to rewrite the past and keep power. After a heist goes wrong, Morgan ends up with the Chronometer, the device that makes time travel possible, and with Prentice, a flying automaton that acts as your guide and has its own skill tree. Once you start uncovering what Lady Ironwood has done, the agents of the Industrial Secret Service come after you.

Time travel and choices

The Chronometer unlocks powers that bend time. One is Displace, which instantly moves certain objects, so you can open a path or send an explosive barrel into a group of enemies. inXile says it will show the rest of the toolkit in 2027.

The bigger idea is that changing the past changes the people around you. The members of your gang, Ulysses, Nazim, Erasmus, Hazel and Anne, have their own lives, and the crew you come back to may not be the one you left. A June 12, 2026, video showed one full conversation where a moral choice carries consequences through time.

Who’s making it
