Is Gears of War: E-Day on PS5? No, it's on Xbox and PC only for now

Gears of War: E-Day is out, but not on PlayStation. Here’s where you can play it and what PS5 owners can play instead.

Is Gears of War: E-Day on PS5?

No. Gears of War: E-Day launched on Oct. 6, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S and on PC, through the Xbox app and Steam. Microsoft’s store page lists only those platforms, and Microsoft hasn’t announced a PlayStation version.

That’s been the plan from the start. When pre-orders opened on June 7, 2026, the official platforms were Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam. There was never an announced PS5 version, so there’s nothing to cancel either.

Will it come to PS5 later?

Microsoft hasn’t said. It has been bringing more of its games to PlayStation, and Gears is part of that: Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the original Gears of War, came to PS5 on Aug. 26, 2025. Forza Horizon 6 is also coming to PS5, as our Forza Horizon 6 PS5 guide explains.

None of that is a promise for E-Day. Until Microsoft announces a PS5 version, plan on Xbox or PC.

Where you can play E-Day now

E-Day costs $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Premium Edition, with a $30 upgrade from Standard. It’s included in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and Xbox Play Anywhere shares your progress between Xbox Series X|S and PC. Online co-op, Horde Siege and Versus need a Game Pass plan with online multiplayer.

The campaign is a prequel set 14 years before the original Gears of War, following a young Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago through the first days of the Locust invasion. You can play it alone, in two-player split-screen on console or with up to four players online.

What PS5 owners can play instead

Gears of War: Reloaded costs $39.99 on the PlayStation Store. It’s the original Gears of War, the story E-Day leads into, so it’s the closest you can get to E-Day on PS5 today.

This page is updated as soon as Microsoft announces a PS5 version of Gears of War: E-Day.
