iPhone Fold release date and price: it's called iPhone Duo, and it's out Oct. 23

The iPhone Fold is real, and it is called iPhone Duo. Apple’s first folding iPhone opens for pre-order on Friday, October 16, at 5 a.m. Pacific Time (8 a.m. Eastern) and goes on sale Friday, October 23, 2026. It starts at $1,999 for 256GB in the US.

IPhone Duo price for every storage size

Apple’s leasing option, Apple Upgrade, starts at $57.99 a month over 24 months before tax and trade-in credit.

How big it is, folded and open

Closed, the iPhone Duo is a short, wide phone: 117.8 mm tall, 84.1 mm wide and 11.3 mm thick, with a 5.4-inch outer screen. Open it like a book and you get a 7.6-inch screen on a body 164.6 mm wide and 5.2 mm thick — Apple calls it the thinnest iPhone it has made. It weighs 254 grams either way.

Both screens use the same shape, so apps look the same folded and open. Both run at up to 120Hz, stay on with Always-On, and reach 3,000 nits outdoors. The inner screen gets a nano-texture finish to cut glare and hide the crease.

The specs Apple confirmed

The hinge has more than 100 parts and supports the middle of the inner screen. Apple has not given a fold count or a crease rating.

What it does that a regular iPhone can’t

IPhone Duo or iPhone 18 Pro?

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are already on sale, from $1,199. The Duo uses the same A20 Pro chip and the same 48MP Ultra Wide camera, but it has two rear cameras instead of the Pro’s three — no 4x telephoto — and it unlocks with Touch ID where the Pro uses Face ID. If you want the biggest screen in the smallest pocket, it is the Duo. If you want the longest zoom, it is still the Pro.
