iPhone Duo case: Apple sells two, the $79 iPhone Duo Case and the $129 Folio with Kickstand

Apple makes two cases for its first foldable iPhone, and they work very differently. Here’s what each one costs, what it’s made of and which one fits the way you use the phone.

Which cases does Apple sell for iPhone Duo?

Apple’s US store lists two cases for the iPhone Duo: the iPhone Duo Case at $79 and the iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand at $129. Both are designed by Apple, fit only the iPhone Duo and have built-in magnets for MagSafe. Apple’s iPhone Duo cases and protection page shows those two and nothing else made for the phone as of Oct. 19, 2026.

Each comes in two colors. The Case comes in sand and navy blue, and the Folio in taupe and navy blue, which Apple pairs with the phone’s own star white and night sky finishes.

IPhone Duo Case: $79

The iPhone Duo Case is a two-part case that wraps around both halves of the phone, so it protects the iPhone Duo from front to back whether it’s open or closed. Apple makes it from polycarbonate with a matte coating and describes it as thin and light, built to protect against drops, scratches and everyday wear.

It’s the cheaper of the two and adds the least bulk, which matters on a phone that’s already 11.3 mm thick when closed. The cameras show through a cutout on the back, and the outer screen stays uncovered.

IPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand: $129

The iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand is made of TechWoven, a custom technical fabric Apple designed. Its main feature is an integrated kickstand that holds the phone at a range of angles for reading, watching video, typing or FaceTime calls, and snaps back into place when you don’t need it.

Apple’s own pictures show the Folio holding the open iPhone Duo upright in landscape like a small tablet, with the 7.6-inch inner screen facing you. At $129, it costs $50 more than the Case.

Case or Folio: which one to buy

Buy the $79 Case if you want the thinnest protection for both halves of the phone and you mostly hold it in your hand. Buy the $129 Folio if you watch shows, follow recipes or take video calls with the phone standing on a table, because the built-in kickstand replaces a separate stand.

Both cases keep MagSafe charging, so neither choice costs you a feature. The real difference is the kickstand, the fabric finish and $50.

Charging through the case

Both cases have built-in magnets that line up with the iPhone Duo’s own, so a MagSafe charger snaps on without taking the case off. They also work with Qi2 25W and Qi-certified chargers. With the Folio, Apple says you can attach the charger to the outside of the case or behind the open kickstand, so the phone keeps charging while it stands.

The iPhone Duo supports MagSafe charging at up to 25W, and a 60W USB-C adapter takes it to 50% in about 20 minutes, according to Apple.

IPhone Duo screen protector

Apple’s iPhone Duo cases and protection page lists no screen protector for the phone as of Oct. 19, 2026. The phone comes with its own protection: the 7.6-inch inner screen has a scratch-resistant coating and a nano-texture finish, the outer screen uses Ceramic Shield 2 and the back Ceramic Shield. It’s rated IP68, to 6 meters for up to 30 minutes.

Apple says the nano-texture finish reduces glare and reflections and minimizes how visible the crease is, so the inner screen ships with its anti-glare finish built in.

How a case changes the size

Without a case, the iPhone Duo is 117.8 mm tall, 84.1 mm wide and 11.3 mm thick when closed, and weighs 254 grams. Either case adds to that, so plan pocket space with the case on. Our iPhone Duo dimensions page compares the bare phone with the iPhone 18 Pro Max, the iPhone Air and the iPad mini.

Third-party iPhone Duo cases

Apple’s US store lists only its own two cases for the iPhone Duo as of Oct. 19. The Beats, mophie and Tech21 cases on Apple’s cases page fit other iPhones, not the Duo. A folding phone needs a case built for its hinge and both halves, so check that any case names the iPhone Duo before you buy it.

IPhone Duo price and launch

The iPhone Duo costs $1,999 for 256GB in the US and goes on sale on Oct. 23, 2026. New orders on Apple’s US store were quoted for Jan. 22, 2027, as our iPhone Duo ship date page explains, and our iPhone Fold release date and price page covers the full launch.
