iPhone Duo sold out: Apple still takes orders, but every model ships Jan. 22, 2027

The iPhone Duo is sold out for launch in every way that matters to a buyer, even though Apple hasn't used the words. Apple's online store still takes orders, but when we checked at 7:08 a.m. ET on Oct. 19, 2026, all eight US models, in star white and night sky and in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB, showed the same ship date: Jan. 22, 2027. Apple's stores in Canada, the UK, Australia, India, Germany and Japan quoted Jan. 22 too, and Singapore's gave a delivery date of Jan. 25. The phone goes on sale on Friday, Oct. 23, from $1,999, so a new order arrives about three months after launch day.

Apple’s foldable iPhone hasn’t officially sold out, but nobody ordering online gets one before late January. Here’s what the Apple Store shows in every country we checked, why the date doesn’t move and what your options are.

Is the iPhone Duo sold out?

Apple hasn’t called the iPhone Duo sold out, and its online store still lets you choose a model, pay and place an order. What it can’t offer is a phone before Jan. 22, 2027. We checked Apple’s US store at 7:08 a.m. ET on Oct. 19, 2026, and every model it sells, unlocked, in both colors and all four storage sizes, showed that ship date.

In practice, that means the launch supply is spoken for. Pre-orders opened on Friday, Oct. 16, at 5 a.m. PT, and within an hour the store had moved every configuration to Jan. 22. The date hasn’t changed in the three days since, as our iPhone Duo ship date page tracks.

The wait in every country we checked

The wait is the same around the world. On the morning of Oct. 19, Apple’s stores in Canada, the UK, Australia, India, Germany and Japan all quoted Jan. 22, 2027, for new iPhone Duo orders, and Singapore's store gave a delivery date of Jan. 25. Every store still accepted orders.

Prices start at $1,999 in the US, C$2,999 in Canada, £1,999 in the UK, A$3,499 in Australia, ₹299,900 in India, €2,299 in Germany, ¥364,800 in Japan and S$3,099 in Singapore, and the full Canadian breakdown is on our iPhone Duo price in Canada page. Apple says the phone launches in more than 70 countries and regions on Oct. 23, and in 28 more on Oct. 30.

Why every model ships on the same day

Color and storage don’t change the wait. The 256GB model at $1,999, the 512GB at $2,199, the 1TB at $2,599 and the 2TB at $3,199 all ship on Jan. 22, in star white and night sky alike, and the store lists the phone as unavailable for two-hour delivery.

A single date across eight models and seven countries points to one queue for the whole first wave, with new orders filled after the launch stock goes out. Apple hasn’t said how many iPhone Duo phones it built for launch, so there’s no official figure behind the January date.

Can you get one in a store on Oct. 23?

Apple says shoppers can arrange pickup at their local Apple Store, and the phone goes on sale in the first wave of countries on Friday, Oct. 23. When we checked on Oct. 16, in-store pickup for new orders only said to check back on Oct. 24, the day after launch.

Apple hasn’t said how many phones each store will hold for walk-in buyers. For a launch-week iPhone Duo, an Apple Store visit on Oct. 23 or a pickup check on Oct. 24 is the only route the company has pointed to.

Should you order and wait?

Ordering online holds your place in Apple’s queue. Under Apple’s US returns policy, you have 14 calendar days to return a phone bought from Apple, counted from the day you receive it, so a January delivery still comes with the full return window.

Apple offers several ways to pay. The phone costs $83.29 a month for 24 months, and Apple Upgrade, a leasing program provided by Klarna in the US, starts at $57.99 a month. With Apple Trade In, Apple gives an instant credit of $175 to $885 for an eligible iPhone 13 or newer. Accessories ship separately: the iPhone Duo Case costs $79 and the iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand $129.

IPhone Duo vs iPhone 18 Pro wait

The long wait is specific to the iPhone Duo. On Oct. 18, Apple’s US store quoted one to two weeks for the iPhone 18 Pro, from $1,199, and two to three weeks for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, from $1,299. Both went on sale on Sept. 18.

The trade-off is the design. Opened, the iPhone Duo has an inner display 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s, and closed, its 5.4-inch outer display gives 90% of the iPhone 18 Pro’s screen area, according to Apple. The full specs and launch details are on our iPhone Duo release date and price page.

Carriers and iPhone Handoff

The iPhone Duo launches with iOS 27.1, and iOS 27 adds iPhone Handoff, which lets you switch between two iPhones that share one phone number on supported carriers. If you plan to keep your current iPhone alongside the Duo, check the carrier’s terms first: Verizon charges a monthly fee for it, as our Verizon iPhone Handoff fee page explains.

This page is updated as soon as the Apple Store’s iPhone Duo ship date moves or Apple comments on supply.
