Crazy Taxi: World Tour release date: 2027, with no exact day, on PS5, Xbox, PC and Switch 2

Crazy Taxi: World Tour comes out in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, SEGA says, but it hasn't announced an exact date or a price. SEGA SAMMY doesn't list it among the games it plans to release in its fiscal year ending in March 2027, so it isn't on that schedule. A free multiplayer test ran from Sept. 11 to 13, 2026, on every platform except Switch 2, and SEGA hasn't announced another one.

Crazy Taxi is coming back in 2027, but SEGA hasn’t picked a day yet. Here’s what’s official about the date, the platforms and the test.

When does Crazy Taxi: World Tour come out?

In 2027, with no exact day. SEGA announced the game at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026, for 2027, and that’s still the only window on Steam, the PlayStation Store and its official website. Pre-orders aren’t open, and there’s no price yet.

SEGA SAMMY’s earnings presentation of Aug. 7, 2026, also lists the game for 2027, but not among the titles planned for its fiscal year ending in March 2027. That puts it outside SEGA’s current schedule, which runs through Stranger Than Heaven on Jan. 15 and Persona 4 Revival on Feb. 18.

Which platforms is Crazy Taxi: World Tour on?

PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC through Steam and Xbox on PC, plus Nintendo Switch 2. It’s an Xbox Play Anywhere game, so one purchase covers Xbox and PC, and Xbox hasn’t announced it for Game Pass. SEGA says the full game will come to Switch 2, but that version isn’t on Nintendo’s US store yet.

The Crazy Taxi: World Tour closed network test

The first chance to play was a free multiplayer closed network test from Sept. 11 to 13, 2026, on Xbox Series X and S, Xbox on PC, PS5 and Steam, but not Switch 2. It had two modes: Pickup Race, where up to six players race to drop off the most passengers, and Cops 'N' Cabbies, two teams of three, in ranked or custom matches. Testers got two maps, six cars and four drivers, and SEGA’s multiplayer preview featured Axel, B.D. Joe, Gena and Gus. SEGA hasn’t announced another test or a demo.

On PC, the minimum is an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 12 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or Radeon RX 580 for 1080p at 30 fps on low settings. The recommended setup, with a GeForce RTX 4060 or Radeon RX 6700 XT, targets 60 fps on high, and either way you need 12 GB on an SSD.

What’s new in Crazy Taxi: World Tour

It’s the series' first game with a story campaign and online multiplayer. Axel sets out to get back a stolen taxi from a group of masked car thieves across five cities around the world, and SEGA has shown Germany, Japan and Brazil among them. An Arcade Mode brings back the race against the clock from the original games, and the new Crazy Drift and Nitro Boost join the classic Crazy Dash and Crazy Stop.

The music is familiar too, with songs by The Offspring and Bad Religion returning. Kenji Kanno, who created the series for arcades in 1999, is the game’s creative producer. Crazy Taxi was one of five series SEGA brought back at The Game Awards 2023, and our Jet Set Radio remake page covers another. This page is updated as soon as SEGA announces a release date or price for Crazy Taxi: World Tour.
