Metaphor: ReFantazio Switch 2 release date: Nov. 12, 2026, for $39.99, with pre-orders open now

Atlus’s award-winning RPG is coming to Switch 2 at a much lower price than it launched at. Here’s the date, every edition and what’s in the box.

When does Metaphor: ReFantazio come out on Switch 2?

On Nov. 12, 2026. SEGA and Atlus announced the Switch 2 version and its date on June 10, 2026, and pre-orders are open on Nintendo’s US store. It’s a Switch 2 version only, not one for the original Switch, and it’s rated T in the US. It shares the day with Pikmin 4’s Switch 2 Edition, one of the busiest dates in our new games in November 2026 list.

How much is Metaphor: ReFantazio on Switch 2?

The standard edition is $39.99, which is $30 less than the $69.99 the game still costs on Steam. The Guidebook Edition is $49.99. The Atlus 35th Digital Anniversary Edition, at $69.99, adds a digital artbook and soundtrack, an Atlus 35th digital history book, an all-time best Atlus soundtrack with six new arrangements, and eight costume and battle music packs, including Persona 3, 4 and 5 school uniforms. Each of those packs also sells separately for $4.99.

Pre-ordering gets you two item sets: the Archetype EXP Chest Set, with 10 Hero’s Incenses and 5 Hero’s Fruits that raise Archetype experience, and the Adventurer’s Journey Pack, with 30,000 Reeve, the in-game currency, plus healing, revival and attack items.

Is there a physical version?

Only as a game-key card, SEGA says. The card doesn’t hold the game itself, so you download it from the eShop the first time you play, and you need the card in the console to start it. Physical pre-order bonuses are offered while stocks last. Nintendo’s US store doesn’t offer a demo yet, though PC players can try a free Prologue Demo on Steam.

What is Metaphor: ReFantazio?

It’s a fantasy RPG from Atlus’s Studio Zero, made by Katsura Hashino, Shigenori Soejima and Shoji Meguro, the creators of Persona 3, 4 and 5. It first came out in October 2024 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and S and PC, won three awards at The Game Awards 2024, including Best RPG, and took the Grand Award at the Japan Game Awards 2025. It has English and Japanese voices and is for one player.
