Nioh 3’s first DLC is out, and the second has a deadline but no date. Here’s when each one arrives and what you get.

When does the Nioh 3 DLC come out?

Nioh 3 has two DLC. Hell Rising, the first, came out on Aug. 19, 2026, the date Koei Tecmo announced in late July. Bloody Insurrection, the second, is set to arrive by the end of February 2027, according to the Season Pass listing on Steam. Koei Tecmo hasn’t given it an exact date, and on the day Hell Rising launched, it said the development team was hard at work on the second DLC.

The schedule has held so far. The same listing promised DLC 1 by the end of September 2026, and Hell Rising arrived about six weeks before that deadline. Koei Tecmo also notes that release dates may change without notice.

What’s in Hell Rising

Hell Rising is set in Edo in 1651, during the Keian era. Takechiyo, the appointed shogun from the main game, travels through time to a future Edo that the Crucible has taken over, and teams up with the one-eyed swordsman Yagyu Jubei and a Spanish envoy, Rodrigo, against a new plot over the Spirit Stones.

It adds a new weapon, the hoko & shield, in Samurai and Ninja versions, which pairs a short spear with a shield you can also throw. The Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls let you pick effects for repeatable battles, solo or with friends, and a third playthrough, Enlightened One’s Journey, gives some enemies a random Curse buff for higher risk and better rewards. There are also new Guardian Spirits, Martial Arts, skills, Ninjutsu and Onmyo Magic. Koei Tecmo kept tuning the DLC after launch, and the Ver. 2.02 update in mid-September added extra effects to Divine Picture Scrolls and raised the drop rate of Hundred Night Incense.

Season Pass and Deluxe Edition

The Season Pass costs $39.99 on Steam and includes both DLC, plus the Chijiko Netsuke Charm, an accessory in Samurai and Ninja styles that came out with the base game. Bought separately, Hell Rising is $19.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition already includes the Season Pass, so owners of that edition shouldn’t buy either one again.

Either way, you need Nioh 3 and have to play up to a certain point in it before Hell Rising opens up, and Koei Tecmo says some Season Pass content may require finishing the main game.
