Jet Set Radio remake release date: still TBD, nearly 3 years after SEGA's reveal
The new Jet Set Radio doesn't have a title, a release date or platforms yet. SEGA revealed it at The Game Awards on Dec. 7, 2023, as one of five classic series being reimagined for modern audiences, and SEGA SAMMY's earnings presentation of Aug. 7, 2026, still lists its title, release date, regions and platforms as TBD. It isn't on SEGA's release schedule for the fiscal year that ends in March 2027.
SEGA brought Jet Set Radio back at The Game Awards in 2023, and fans are still waiting for a date. Here’s what’s official.
When does the Jet Set Radio remake come out?
SEGA hasn’t said, not even a year. It revealed the new Jet Set Radio on Dec. 7, 2023, at The Game Awards, and promised that titles, release dates and platforms would be shared later. In SEGA SAMMY’s earnings presentation of Aug. 7, 2026, the game is still listed with its title, release date, regions and platforms as TBD.
It’s also not on SEGA’s release schedule for the fiscal year that ends in March 2027, whose new games include Stranger Than Heaven and Persona 4 Revival. Instead, it sits under upcoming plans, alongside Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and Alien: Isolation 2, which don’t have dates either.
Is it a remake or a new game?
SEGA calls it a new game in development, part of an initiative to reimagine classic series for modern audiences, and it hasn’t said how closely it follows the original. The footage shown in December 2023 was labeled early development footage. It showed a skater grinding a rail on a busy city street and a DJ booth under a Jet Set Radio sign.
SEGA describes the series as action-packed traversal around Tokyo-to with skating, self-expression through graffiti, street culture and rebellious themes.
Which platforms is it coming to?
SEGA hasn’t announced any, so PS5, Xbox Series X and S, Switch 2 and PC are all unconfirmed. SEGA SAMMY lists the platforms and regions as TBD. An HD version of the original Jet Set Radio came out in 2012.
What about SEGA’s other revivals?
Jet Set Radio was one of five series SEGA brought back at The Game Awards 2023, and they’re moving at different speeds. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance came out first, in August 2025. Crazy Taxi now has a title and a year, as our Crazy Taxi: World Tour release date page explains. Golden Axe and Streets of Rage are still untitled, like Jet Set Radio.
SEGA said in 2023 that the projects were at different stages and would come out over several years. For more of SEGA’s coming games, see our Virtua Fighter Crossroads and Alien: Isolation 2 pages.
This page is updated as soon as SEGA announces a title, release date or platforms for the new Jet Set Radio.
