Hogwarts Legacy remaster release date: Warner Bros. hasn't announced one, but a Nov. 5 PC update adds DLSS 5
Warner Bros. Games hasn't announced a Hogwarts Legacy remaster, remastered edition or Definitive Edition as of Oct. 18, 2026. What is coming is an update for the PC version on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, that adds Nvidia's DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering, which gives the game more realistic lighting and materials, and upgrades its other DLSS features to their newest versions. Nvidia announced the update on Oct. 13 with side-by-side images of the game with DLSS 5 on and off, and says it works on GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards, RTX Spark laptops and GeForce NOW. It doesn't change the PS5, Xbox or Switch 2 versions. Developer Avalanche Software tuned the effect to keep the game's art style, according to Nvidia. Hogwarts Legacy came out on Feb. 10, 2023, has sold more than 40 million copies, and costs $5.99 on Steam, 90% off, until Oct. 22. Warner Bros.' announced Hogwarts Legacy project is the sequel, which has no release date.

People are searching for a Hogwarts Legacy remaster, but the real news is a PC update. Here’s what Warner Bros. has and hasn’t announced, when DLSS 5 arrives in the game and what it costs to play.
Is there a Hogwarts Legacy remaster?
Not officially. As of Oct. 18, 2026, Warner Bros. Games hasn’t announced a remaster, a remastered edition or a Definitive Edition of Hogwarts Legacy, and the game’s Steam news has no such plans. What set off the remaster talk is Nvidia’s Oct. 13 announcement that Hogwarts Legacy gets DLSS 5 on PC, with comparison images that make the three-year-old game look noticeably more realistic. Our view is that this update is the closest thing to a remaster that’s coming, but it’s a feature added to the existing game, not a new release.
Hogwarts Legacy DLSS 5 update release date
The update arrives on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, according to Nvidia. It adds DLSS Neural Rendering, the switch that turns on DLSS 5, and upgrades the game’s other DLSS features to their newest versions. Hogwarts Legacy already supports DLSS Multi Frame Generation and Ray Reconstruction on GeForce RTX graphics cards.
Nvidia says DLSS 5 in Hogwarts Legacy works on GeForce RTX 50 Series cards and laptops, RTX Spark laptops and GeForce NOW, Nvidia’s cloud gaming service. It hasn’t announced DLSS 5 for RTX 40 or RTX 30 cards. The full list of supported games is on our DLSS 5 release date page.
What DLSS 5 changes in Hogwarts Legacy
DLSS 5 takes each finished frame and adds more realistic lighting and materials, such as light passing through skin and hair, deeper contact shadows and better reflections, while keeping the game’s own models and textures. Nvidia’s comparisons show Hogsmeade’s streets and characters' faces with DLSS 5 on and off.
Avalanche Software used DLSS 5’s developer controls to tune how strong the effect is, so that the game keeps its original art style, Nvidia says. Nvidia’s announcement doesn’t mention new quests, areas or story. The update also doesn’t change the PS5, Xbox Series X and S or Switch 2 versions, since DLSS 5 is Nvidia’s PC technology.
Hogwarts Legacy price on Steam and PS5
Hogwarts Legacy costs $5.99 on Steam until Oct. 22, in a weekend deal that takes 90% off the regular $59.99. On PS5, the PlayStation Store had it for $10.49 instead of $69.99 when we checked at 11:56 a.m. ET on Oct. 18, also until Oct. 22, and it’s included with PlayStation Plus Extra.
The DLSS 5 update comes to the existing PC version, so a copy bought at the sale price gets it on Nov. 5 too, as long as it runs on a supported Nvidia card or through GeForce NOW.
Hogwarts Legacy release history and the sequel
Hogwarts Legacy came out on Feb. 10, 2023, on PS5, Xbox Series X and S and PC, followed by PS4 and Xbox One, the original Switch on Nov. 14, 2023, and Switch 2 on June 5, 2025.
