Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is on Switch 2. Square Enix released it on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 3, 2026, for $49.99 in Nintendo's US eShop, the same day it came to Xbox Series X and S and Xbox on PC. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $69.99, a free demo covers the first two chapters, and Nintendo's store lists a 91.5 GB download. It's a Switch 2 game only, so it doesn't run on the original Switch.

The middle chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake now fits in your hands, but it takes up a lot of room. Here’s what the Switch 2 version costs and includes.
When did Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth come out on Switch 2?
On June 3, 2026. Square Enix announced the Switch 2 and Xbox versions on Feb. 6, 2026, and released them on the same day, with Xbox Play Anywhere support on the Xbox side. The game first came out on PS5 on Feb. 29, 2024, and on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store on Jan. 23, 2025.
That launch put the first two games of the remake trilogy on every current platform. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade reached Switch 2 earlier, on Jan. 22, 2026, for $39.99; see our FF7 Remake Switch 2 page. Square Enix says Rebirth has earned more than 125 perfect scores from media and 40 Game of the Year awards.
How much does it cost, and is there a demo?
Nintendo’s US eShop sells the standard edition for $49.99, the same price as on Steam, and the Digital Deluxe Edition for $69.99. According to Square Enix, the Deluxe Edition adds the Magic Pot summoning materia, an accessory and an armor piece, a digital artbook and a mini-soundtrack. If you already own the standard edition, the upgrade costs $20.

The free demo came out on April 28, 2026. It covers Chapters 1 and 2: a flashback to Nibelheim with a younger Cloud and Sephiroth, then the open Grasslands region with the Queen’s Blood card game. Progress carries over to the full game, and Nintendo says demo players can claim the Kupo Charm and Survival Set from the Gift Box menu.
How big is it, and how does it run?
Nintendo’s store lists a download of 91.5 GB, slightly bigger than Remake Intergrade’s. The game supports TV, tabletop and handheld modes, HDR output on compatible TVs and surround sound, and cloud saves need a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Neither Nintendo’s store page nor Square Enix’s announcements list a frame rate or resolution.

The Switch 2 version adds Streamlined Progression, an optional mode first introduced with Remake Intergrade on Switch 2 and Xbox. It can give you unlimited HP and MP, a full ATB gauge in battle, 9,999 damage and easier weapon ability unlocks, so you can focus on the story. Square Enix says the mode is also available in the PS5 and PC versions.
Is there a physical edition?
Yes. Square Enix sells a physical Switch 2 edition, and the first production run includes one Magic: The Gathering card of Zack Fair with variant art by Tetsuya Nomura, while supplies last. The card is in English only.

The game is rated T for Teen by the ESRB and supports English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
What carries over to Final Fantasy VII Revelation?
Your Rebirth save does. Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final part, comes out on April 8, 2027, on Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X and S and PC, and Rebirth save data unlocks the Phoenix summon and a Rebirth weapon skin set there. Remake Intergrade saves work the same way in Rebirth, unlocking Leviathan from the main story and Ramuh from the INTERmission episode with Yuffie.
