The FF7 remake finally has an ending date. Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the last part of the trilogy, arrives on April 8, 2027, on every major platform at once. Here’s everything Square Enix has confirmed.
When does Final Fantasy VII Revelation come out?
Final Fantasy VII Revelation comes out on Thursday, April 8, 2027. Square Enix announced it at Summer Game Fest in June 2026 with a spring 2027 window, then set the exact date during PlayStation’s State of Play on Sept. 3, 2026, with a new trailer and a long gameplay deep dive.

If you buy the digital Premium or Premium Plus edition, you get 24 hours of early access, so you can start a day before launch. Pre-orders are open now, except for digital pre-orders on Switch 2, which Square Enix says will open later.
Platforms, editions and prices
Revelation launches the same day on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, through Steam, the Epic Games Store and Xbox on PC. That’s a change from the first two games, which started on PlayStation and reached other platforms later.
The Standard edition costs $69.99, physical or digital. Digitally, the Premium edition, at $99.99, adds the Story Expansion Pass and early access, and Premium Plus, at $109.99, adds a digital mini soundtrack, a digital artbook, the Summoning Materia Polydroid Alexander and two pieces of in-game gear. On disc, the Deluxe edition costs $99.99 with a mini soundtrack and an artbook, and the Collector’s Edition, a Square Enix Store exclusive at $349.99, adds a statue of Cloud, Zack and Sephiroth and the Story Expansion Pass.
Every edition comes with the pre-order bonus Summon Materia: Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle. Your old saves count too. Save data from Remake Intergrade unlocks the Chocobo & Moogle summon and a weapon skin set, and Rebirth save data unlocks the Phoenix summon and another skin set.
What’s new in Revelation
The big change is scale. Square Enix says the whole planet is freely explorable aboard the Highwind airship, and you can parachute down anywhere and move from air to land without a break. Piko, a chocobo that grows with the party, learns new ways to travel and fight, and a new grappling gun lets you climb rooftops quickly.

Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine join the playable party. A new system called FITS adds class-based abilities and outfits through four roles: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner. You can swap your controlled character and your party at any time while exploring, and choosing who takes on certain quests changes how some events play out.
The story picks up with the party grieving a beloved ally and racing to stop Meteor while Sephiroth nears godhood. The original Final Fantasy VII came out in 1997, and the remake series began in 2020.
The Story Expansion Pass and DLC
Revelation already has two story DLCs planned: Story DLC 1: Sephiroth and Story DLC 2: Vincent & the Turks. Both come in the Story Expansion Pass, along with an accessory that restores a little HP when you defeat enemies and a set of items for the early game.
The pass is included with the Premium, Premium Plus and Collector’s editions, and Square Enix says it will also be sold on its own at launch. Steam lists both DLCs for release between winter 2027 and spring 2028, and each will be sold separately after it comes out.
Catching up before April
If you haven’t played the first two parts, Square Enix sells a digital Trilogy Edition for $84.99, which gives you Remake Intergrade and Rebirth right away, plus the Revelation pre-order bonus. Both games are on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC, and both have a Streamlined Progression option, with unlimited HP and MP and an always-full ATB gauge, for anyone short on time. On Steam, Rebirth costs $49.99 and Remake Intergrade $39.99.
Revelation is one of the biggest releases on our list of upcoming games in 2027, and it’s also on our lists of upcoming PS5 games and upcoming Switch 2 games.
