Assassin's Creed Shadows has been on Switch 2 since Dec. 2, 2025. Nintendo's US eShop sells it for $59.99, and it comes as a game-key card in stores, so you download the whole game, about 69 GB, before playing. Ubisoft targets 30 fps in both TV and handheld mode, with DLSS upscaling and HDR. The Claws of Awaji expansion followed on March 10, 2026, for $24.99, mouse and keyboard support arrived with an April 2026 update, and progress carries over from PS5, Xbox and PC through Ubisoft Connect.

Feudal Japan fits on Nintendo’s console, as long as you have room for about 69 GB. Here’s what the Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows costs and how it plays.
When did Assassin’s Creed Shadows come out on Switch 2?
On Dec. 2, 2025, about eight months after its March 20, 2025, launch on PS5, Xbox Series X and S and PC. Nintendo’s US eShop sells it for $59.99, $10 less than the $69.99 it costs on Steam, and it’s rated M for Mature by the ESRB. You play as Naoe, a shinobi, and Yasuke, a samurai, and you can play as either one in the open world.

Ubisoft says the Switch 2 version launched with the post-launch content already in it, including the enhanced parkour, New Game+ and Nightmare difficulty. In stores, it’s a game-key card: the card gives you a digital key, the install needs an internet connection, and after that you can play offline. You need a Ubisoft account for the online features.
How does it run on Switch 2?
Ubisoft targets a stable 30 fps in both TV and handheld mode, with DLSS upscaling. In handheld mode, a custom algorithm keeps variable refresh rate on at 30 fps, and the game supports HDR in both modes. To fit in the console’s memory, the team swapped ray-traced global illumination for baked lighting and reduced level of detail, draw distance and the number of NPCs.

The touch screen works for menus, map navigation and building your hideout. Nintendo’s store data puts the game at about 69 GB, so you may need a microSD Express card if your internal storage is full.
What updates has it gotten?
Several, usually a few days after other platforms. Title Update 1.1.7 reached Switch 2 on Dec. 17, 2025, with fixes for frame rate issues and crashes and a better touch screen experience. Title Update 1.1.10 added mouse and keyboard support on Switch 2 in April 2026, and Title Update 1.1.11 brought GPU performance improvements in handheld mode on June 19, 2026, along with the free Black Tides story quest and the Domains end-game activity.

Not everything made it over. The crossover rewards linked to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced aren’t available on Switch 2, because Ubisoft isn’t releasing Black Flag Resynced on Nintendo hardware. Ubisoft called Title Update 1.1.12 a closing update, and it reached Switch 2 on July 30, 2026, as an 8.5 GB patch.
Is Claws of Awaji on Switch 2?
Yes, since March 10, 2026. Nintendo’s US eShop sells the expansion for $24.99, and the Premium Edition, out the same day, costs $99.99 with the base game, Claws of Awaji, the Sekiryu Dual Pack and 5 Mastery Points. Nintendo’s store says the Premium Edition plays fully offline in TV and handheld mode once downloaded.
Progress carries over. Ubisoft says you can continue between consoles, PC and Switch 2 through Ubisoft Connect. Helix Credits don’t transfer between platforms, but store items bought with them are shared.
