Death Stranding 2 DLC: what the free to the wilder update added, the $10 Deluxe upgrade and where story DLC stands

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has no story DLC, and its biggest new content came free on March 19, 2026. Here’s what that update added on PC and PS5, what the paid upgrade includes and where a DLC stands.

Is there a Death Stranding 2 DLC?

Kojima Productions hasn’t released or announced a story DLC for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach since the game launched on PS5 on June 26, 2025. The PC version, ported by Nixxes Software, followed on March 19, 2026, at 7:30 a.m. PT on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

What the game has instead is one free content update and one paid add-on. The Upgrade to Digital Deluxe Edition costs $10 and adds gear and cosmetics, and the update that arrived with the PC launch added a new challenge mode, a VR training area and more for every player at no cost, on PC and PS5 at the same time.

What the March 19, 2026, update added

The headline addition is to the wilder, a challenge mode that tests your porter skills to the extreme in merciless environments filled with deadly enemies. Completing orders takes every bit of ingenuity, and once you set out, there’s no turning back.

Trapped in a Strange Realm is a new VR training area where you relive Sam’s big confrontations with Neil, and completing it unlocks new fieldware, including new bandanas. Kojima Productions announced in February that new modes were coming to both versions at launch, and it kept that promise with every addition landing on PS5 the same day.

The Chiral Feline and Photo Mode

The update also brought something for cat lovers. The Chiral Feline visits Sam’s private room aboard the DHV Magellan, and it’s among the new additions to Photo Mode.

Photo Mode is the center of Kojima Productions' 2026 Annual Photo Mode Campaign, its third, which has drawn more than 10,000 submissions a year. The studio picks two photos a month and turns the year’s 24 picks into a printed 2027 Death Stranding Official Calendar for the photographers. The latest theme, Animals, takes submissions from Oct. 2 to Oct. 20, 2026.

PC features and patches

On PC, the Nixxes port added DLSS, FSR and XeSS upscaling and frame generation, uncapped frame rates, 32:9 super ultrawide support for gameplay, full mouse and keyboard support and DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers over a wired connection. High-end PCs can turn on ray-traced reflections and ambient occlusion, and PS5 players got 21:9 ultrawide support with the same update.

Nixxes followed with ten patches, from 1.1 on March 26 to 1.10 on July 2, 2026. Patch 1.3 on April 9 made the game Steam Deck Verified, and Patch 1.9 on June 11 added VSync support for DLSS Frame Generation. Linking an account for PlayStation is optional and unlocks backpack patches and a suit inspired by the PlayStation logo. Save data doesn’t transfer between PS5 and PC.

The Digital Deluxe upgrade and prices

The Upgrade to Digital Deluxe Edition costs $10 and adds an early unlock of the Machine Gun [MP] at level 1, Patch 70: Quokka, Patch 71: Chiral Cat and Patch 72: Why Me?, plus gold Battle, Boost and Bokka Skeletons at levels 1 to 3.

On Steam, Death Stranding 2 costs $69.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition $79.99. These were the prices on Oct. 19, 2026. The game’s first PC sale, 20% off, marked the PS5 version’s first anniversary on June 26, 2026, and the Steam Autumn Sale cut it by 20% again from Oct. 1 to Oct. 8.

Will Death Stranding 2 get DLC?

Kojima Productions hasn’t announced any Death Stranding 2 DLC, and its game announcements since the PC launch have been about new projects. The first game got a Director’s Cut rather than story DLC, and it reached Steam on March 30, 2022.
