OD release date: Hideo Kojima's Xbox game OD - KNOCK still has no date
OD doesn't have a release date. Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios announced the game at The Game Awards on Dec. 7, 2023, and neither has given a date, a year or a platform list since. The newest teaser, OD - KNOCK, came out on Sept. 23, 2025, and on Sept. 17, 2026, Hideo Kojima showed behind-the-scenes footage from a performance capture session during Xbox's Tokyo Game Show broadcast.
OD has been on the slate for years, and it still has no date. Here’s what Kojima Productions and Xbox have actually shown and confirmed.
When does OD come out?
Neither Kojima Productions nor Xbox has announced a release date. There’s no year or window, and the Xbox store page for OD lists Xbox Game Studios as publisher and Kojima Productions as developer, with a rating pending, likely Mature 17+, but no date.
The project is moving, though. During Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast on Sept. 17, 2026, Hideo Kojima shared a development update with behind-the-scenes footage of Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer in a performance capture session.
Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios announced OD at The Game Awards on Dec. 7, 2023. The studio describes it as a game about testing your fear threshold and what it means to OD on fear, while blurring the line between games and film. Kojima said the team is using Xbox’s cloud gaming technology to create “a new form of media.”

What is OD - KNOCK?
At its 10th anniversary event, Beyond the Strand, on Sept. 23, 2025, Kojima Productions released a new teaser titled OD - KNOCK. Since then, both Kojima Productions and Xbox have used that name when talking about the project, and a poster calls it a game for all players and screamers.
Is OD an Xbox exclusive?
That isn’t confirmed. Xbox Game Studios is publishing OD, and the 2023 announcement tied it to Xbox’s cloud gaming technology, but no platform list has been announced.
Xbox’s partnership with Kojima Productions has also grown. On Sept. 9, 2026, Xbox said it will publish the studio’s action-espionage game Physint as well, and Kojima called the deal an expansion of the relationship beyond OD.
