SEGA hasn’t announced a new mainline Sonic game, but the series has two November dates and a movie on the way. Here’s what’s coming and when.
Is there a new Sonic game in 2026?
Not a new mainline game. SEGA SAMMY’s earnings presentation of Aug. 7, 2026, lists every game it has announced, and the only full Sonic game on it is Sonic Frontiers – Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch 2. That came out in June 2026 for $49.99, with a physical edition on Sept. 17. The original Sonic Frontiers, the last new 3D Sonic adventure, launched in November 2022, and Sonic X Shadow Generations followed in October 2024.
The newest Sonic releases are smaller: a big free update for SEGA’s racing game and a co-op puzzle game from another publisher.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year Two

It adds Duel Mode, a 1v1 mode with a new Duel Boost gauge, a seventh gadget slot and 15 new gadgets, and post-launch racers now show up as CPU opponents.
New free racers come too. Bayonetta arrives on Nov. 3, a McLaren Racing machine driven by Sonic follows later in November, and Aigis from Persona 3 joins in early 2027. Season Pass Two costs $29.99 and covers six paid packs: Godzilla on Nov. 3, Evangelion in January 2027 and Virtual Sanrio Puroland in the second quarter of 2027, with three more after that.
Sonic Pico Park
Sonic Pico Park comes to Steam on Nov. 12, 2026. It’s a co-op action puzzle game from the Pico Park series, made together with SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog, for 2 to 8 players, locally or online. It’s published by PICO PARK Inc., and a price hasn’t been announced. It lands on one of November’s busiest days, which our new games in November 2026 page covers in full.
The Sonic the Hedgehog 4 movie
The next big Sonic date is a film. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 opens on March 19, 2027, in the US, SEGA SAMMY says, with dates in other regions still to be set.
