Assassin's Creed Hexe release date: no date yet, and Ubisoft says it'll stay quiet a while longer
Assassin's Creed Hexe doesn't have a release date. Ubisoft revealed it as Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe on Sept. 10, 2022, and its latest update, from March 4, 2026, said the team would stay quiet a little longer while it builds a darker, story-driven game at Ubisoft Montreal. Ubisoft hasn't announced a release year, platforms, a setting or a main character.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe has been official for four years, but Ubisoft still hasn’t shown it. Here’s what the company has actually said, and what’s still unconfirmed.
When does Assassin’s Creed Hexe come out?
There’s no release date and no release year. Ubisoft revealed the game as Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe on Sept. 10, 2022, so by simple arithmetic, it has been about four years since the announcement as of October 2026. Release dates shared online aren’t official. For other big games still waiting on dates, see our list of upcoming games in 2027.
The latest word came on March 4, 2026, in Ubisoft’s update on the year ahead for the series. The team said it’s taking the time to deliver on an ambitious vision, which means staying quiet a little longer, and that it will show more when the time is right.
Ubisoft’s sales report of July 23, 2026, didn’t change that. It lists Black Flag Resynced, Rayman Legends Retold and Just Dance Decades of Hits for the fiscal year that ends March 31, 2027, plus other titles to be announced later. Beyond that, Ubisoft expects a significantly stronger lineup in its next two fiscal years, from April 2027 to March 2029, with releases across brands including Assassin’s Creed, but it hasn’t said which Assassin’s Creed games. The same plan includes the next Far Cry.
What Ubisoft has said about Hexe
Very little, by design. Hexe is being made at Ubisoft Montreal, and Ubisoft describes it as a “unique, darker, narrative-driven” Assassin’s Creed set during a pivotal moment in history. In the March update, Jean Guesdon, the series' head of content, said they had recently taken on the role of creative director for the project as well.

When Ubisoft revealed Hexe in 2022, it presented the game as a separate creative track from the role-playing games, with a different approach to gameplay. At the time, it said Hexe would be a single-player game without multiplayer components.
When and where is Assassin’s Creed Hexe set?
Ubisoft hasn’t announced a setting, a time period or a main character. Hexe is the German word for witch, which is why many fans expect a story about the European witch trials, but Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed that. Settings, protagonists and story details shared online as Hexe leaks haven’t been confirmed by Ubisoft either, and Ubisoft hasn’t shown any Hexe gameplay.

Has Assassin’s Creed Hexe been cancelled?
No. Ubisoft’s March 2026 update describes Hexe as being built with great care by a veteran team. The same update mentioned that Ubisoft had recently pivoted away from an unnamed early project, but that was separate from Hexe, which it listed as still in development. Other Assassin’s Creed games in the works
Ubisoft’s latest release is Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a remake of Black Flag that came out on July 9, 2026, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Ubisoft reported 3.5 million copies sold in as of July 23, and it costs $59.99 on Steam. The previous main game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, launched on March 20, 2025, and it’s $69.99 on Steam.

Ubisoft is also making Codename Invictus, a player-versus-player multiplayer Assassin’s Creed led by For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal, and it says several other projects are in development, including Assassin’s Creed Jade, along with plans to bring co-op back to the series. None of them has a release date.
This page is updated as soon as Ubisoft announces a release date, platforms, a setting or a trailer for Assassin’s Creed Hexe.
