Gemini 4 release date: Gemini 4 Argon came out on Oct. 13, 2026, starting at $19.99 a month
Google released Gemini 4 Argon, the first and so far only Gemini 4 model, worldwide on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026. It's in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search for Google AI Pro subscribers, at $19.99 a month in the US, and Google AI Ultra subscribers, from $99.99 a month, and for developers through the paid tier of the Gemini API. Free Gemini users and the $4.99 Google AI Plus plan don't get it, and Google hasn't said when they will. Google first announced Argon on Sept. 30, when it went only to a group of cybersecurity partners. For developers, it costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, which Google calls an introductory price. Google hasn't announced a Gemini 4 Pro or Gemini 4 Flash. Argon can write up to 1 million tokens in one answer, up from 64,000, and Google showed it building playable browser games.

Gemini 4 is out, but only one model and only for paying users. Here’s when Gemini 4 Argon came out, what it costs, whether free users get it and what’s still missing.
When did Gemini 4 come out?
Google released Gemini 4 Argon worldwide on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026. It came to the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, to developers and businesses through the paid Gemini API in Google AI Studio, and to Ultra subscribers in Google Antigravity, Google’s coding tool.

Google first announced Argon on Sept. 30, but gave it only to a group of cybersecurity partners in its Fairwind Program while it tested its safety measures. Google calls Argon its frontier model for long, complex work such as coding, financial and legal research and finding software security flaws.
How much does Gemini 4 Argon cost?
In the Gemini app, Argon comes with Google AI Pro, which costs $19.99 a month in the US, and Google AI Ultra, which costs $99.99 a month, or $199.99 with higher usage limits. The $4.99 Google AI Plus plan and the free Gemini app don’t include it, according to Google’s US plans page on Oct. 18.
For developers, Google charges $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input 95% off. Google calls that an introductory price, so it may go up later, but it hasn’t said when or by how much.
Is Gemini 4 free?
Not as of Oct. 18. Free Gemini users don’t get Argon, and Google hasn’t said when, or whether, Argon will reach the free tier. Its Sept. 30 announcement said the rollout would start with paying API customers and Ultra subscribers, and Pro subscribers were added at launch.

Gemini 4 Pro and Flash release date
Google hasn’t announced either. Argon is the only Gemini 4 model, and Google’s plans page still lists separate Pro and Flash models alongside it, from earlier generations such as Gemini 3.8. Google hasn’t said whether smaller Gemini 4 models are coming.
What Gemini 4 Argon can do, including games
Argon can write up to 1 million tokens in a single answer, up from 64,000 for earlier models, so it can work through very long tasks in one go. Google says it scored 77.9% on the DeepSWE v1.1 software engineering test, a new high, and the model answers more directly, with less hedging and repetition.

For game developers, Google showed Argon in Antigravity building playable games that run in a web browser, including a miniature racing game made from photos of a real desk and a 3D game with shatter physics that Argon wrote in Python and set up to run on the web. Google hasn’t said any studio uses Argon to make a commercial game. Our games made from your imagination page looks at how far that idea has come.
This page is updated as soon as Google releases another Gemini 4 model or brings Argon to free users.
