When did the Fitbit Edge come out?

Google announced the Fitbit Edge on Oct. 12, 2026, opened pre-orders the same day through the Google Store and retail partners, and put it on store shelves on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The Google Store sells both versions with no pre-order label.

Screen, size and design

The Fitbit Edge has Google’s largest and brightest tracker screen so far: a Hybrid OLED panel with 46% more viewing area than earlier Fitbit trackers, readable in direct sunlight. A redesigned physical side button gives tactile feedback and pulls up the workout pause screen.

The case is 11.6 mm thin, made of recycled aluminum, and Google says it is 45% lighter than the Apple Watch Series 12 case. The interface builds on the Pixel Watch 5 design, with tiles for sleep, cycle tracking and heart rate, plus Google Maps, media controls and call and message notifications.

Fitness and health tracking

  • More than 50 exercise modesWith real-time pace targets, heart rate zones and splits.
  • Built-in GPSUp to 40% more accurate than on earlier trackers, and an altimeter for elevation.
  • Automatic recognitionOf up to 100 workouts, even when you forget to press start.
  • An ECG app for heart rhythm checks and round-the-clock optical heart rate.
  • A skin temperature sensor, sleep stages and heart rate variability for a recovery score each morning.
  • Health GuardianHigh and low heart rate alerts, plus blood pressure trends and insulin resistance trends, which the Google Store lists as coming soon.

Google says these features are for general wellness, not medical diagnosis, and the ECG app works only in select countries.

Battery, charging and durability

Google quotes up to seven days on a charge. When the battery runs low, five minutes on the magnetic charger gives a full day, using the included USB-C cable and a 30W adapter sold separately.

It’s water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM) with an IP68 rating, and it’s Google’s first repairable fitness tracker, with a modular build and a replaceable battery.

Colors and bands

Four finishes come with the soft Active Band: Obsidian (matte black case), Fog (polished silver), Olive (satin pyrite) and Canyon (warm gold). Extra bands include the Active Sport, the Performance Loop, which Google lists as coming soon, the Magnet band and Metal Links.
