Galaxy S28 release date: Samsung hasn't announced it, and the Galaxy S27 comes first
There's no Galaxy S28 release date, because Samsung hasn't announced the Galaxy S28. As of Oct. 16, 2026, it hasn't announced the Galaxy S27 either, which would come first. Samsung's newest Galaxy S phones are the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, unveiled on Feb. 25, 2026, and the cheaper Galaxy S26 FE. As of Oct. 16, 2026, Samsung’s newest Galaxy S phones are the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, unveiled on Feb. 25, 2026, and the cheaper Galaxy S26 FE, which came out on Aug. 27, 2026, at $699.99.
Samsung’s launch record, year by year
Samsung keeps a tight calendar for its Galaxy S phones. It unveiled the Galaxy S24 series at Galaxy Unpacked in San Jose on Jan. 17, 2024, the Galaxy S25 series in San Jose on Jan. 22, 2025, and the Galaxy S26 series in San Francisco on Feb. 25, 2026. Each time, invitations went out about two weeks before the show, and the S25 and S26 reached stores about two weeks after it, on Feb. 7, 2025, and March 11, 2026.
If Samsung keeps that rhythm, the Galaxy S27 would arrive in early 2027 and a Galaxy S28 in early 2028. Samsung hasn’t confirmed either, and our Galaxy S27 page tracks the next launch first.
What the Galaxy S26 says about prices
Prices have already moved during this generation. The Galaxy S26 series launched in the US at $899.99, $1,099.99 and $1,299.99. Samsung’s US store now lists the S26 from $999.99, the S26+ from $1,199.99 and the S26 Ultra from $1,399.99, $100 more for each model. Samsung hasn’t said what the next phones will cost.
The Ultra is the model most buyers pick. Samsung said the Galaxy S26 Ultra was chosen by more than 70% of pre-order customers worldwide. It brought the first built-in Privacy Display on a phone, which Samsung designed for places like trains and cafés, and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip. The S26 and S26+ use either that chip or Samsung’s own Exynos 2600, depending on the market.
Is it worth waiting?
Nothing about the Galaxy S28 is official, so there’s no price, date or feature list to wait for. Samsung promises seven years of security updates for the Galaxy S26, so a phone bought now stays supported long after a Galaxy S28 would reach stores.

Claims about Galaxy S28 chips and cameras have started to show up online. Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of them, and it doesn’t comment on unreleased phones.
