Each company runs its own tests, so those hours and charging figures don’t make a lab comparison. Samsung says the Fold8 and the Ultra don’t support the S Pen, and the Ultra is the only one of the three with a telephoto camera.
Which foldable is tougher against water?
The iPhone Duo. Apple rates it IP68, up to 6 meters for 30 minutes. Samsung rates both of its phones IP48, and the Fold8’s figure is 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Both codes end in 8, so the water gap comes down to test depth. The first digit matters too: 6 means dust-tight, and 4 only covers solid objects larger than 1 mm.
Which one can you get sooner?
The Samsung phones, by a wide margin. They’ve been on sale since Aug. 7, and Samsung’s US store quoted delivery by Nov. 11 to Nov. 13 on Nov. 7, depending on the model, with a note about delays on popular combinations.
The iPhone Duo went on sale on Oct. 23, and Apple’s US store quoted shipping on Jan. 22, 2027, for all eight models on Nov. 7, with delivery up to five days after that. Carriers run on their own stock, and Verizon’s site quoted shipping between Dec. 12 and Dec. 30 on Nov. 7. Our iPhone Duo ship date page tracks Apple’s date.
Which one should you pick?
Pick the Fold8 for the lowest price, the lightest body and delivery in November. Pick the Fold8 Ultra for the largest inner screen and the only telephoto camera. Pick the iPhone Duo if you’re staying on iOS, want the better water and dust rating or need 2TB, and you can wait until December at Verizon or January at Apple.
This page is updated as soon as Samsung starts a new offer, Apple’s ship date moves or either company changes a price.
