When did Valor Mortis come out?
On Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET, or 10 a.m. PT. It launched at the same moment on PS5, Xbox Series X and S and PC through Steam, and the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store both list 17:00 UTC as the release time.
One More Level skipped pre-orders. When it announced the price on Sept. 17, the studio said it wanted the finished game to do the talking, so you could buy it once you could judge it at launch. An open Steam playtest ran a year before launch and a demo followed in June.
Price, editions and Game Pass
Valor Mortis costs $39.99. The studio said it believes the game can stand next to full-price titles, but chose a lower price because the fall release calendar is packed. The Deluxe Edition costs $59.99 and adds a major story DLC coming in 2027, a complete side story separate from the main campaign, plus several cosmetic weapon skin packs, the first of which is already unlockable. On Steam, the Deluxe Edition Upgrade costs $20.
On Xbox and PC, Valor Mortis joined Game Pass on day one, and it supports Xbox Play Anywhere. The Microsoft Store lists 4K, HDR10, 60 fps and up, and Optimized for Xbox Series X and S. On PS5, the PlayStation Store also offers a game trial. One More Level and Lyrical Games haven’t announced a physical edition.
On Steam, bundles pair Valor Mortis with Dishonored, No Rest for the Wicked, Mouse: P.I. for Hire, and Ghostrunner and Ghostrunner 2, with 10% off when you buy both.
What kind of game it is
Valor Mortis is a first-person soulslike, a genre usually played in third person. You are William, a soldier of the Grande Armée brought back from a battlefield grave into a Europe swept by a plague, with its corrupting power in your veins. Each death is a chance to grow stronger. Combat is built on parries, dashes and finishers across swords, firearms and magic you can dual-wield and level up, and you fight the plague-ridden abominations of Napoleon’s Eternal Guard.
The campaign runs about 20 hours, with bosses, side quests, shortcuts and secrets. The cast includes Vincent Cassel as Napoleon Bonaparte, Jennifer English as The Shrike and James Alexander as William Dowsett. The Microsoft Store rates it Mature 17+.
Updates and what comes next
The first patch arrived on Oct. 16. It fixed the most common crashes, added a pop-up that warns players running outdated graphics drivers, fixed progression blockers after the boss in Chapter 4 and in Chapter 12, and fixed the side quest In the Name of Art in Chapter 5. One More Level says more performance work is coming.
Next, the studio plans a New Game+ mode later in 2026, a harder second run with your progression and loot, stronger enemies and new surprises. It also wants to add a full French voice track, and the story DLC follows in 2027 for Deluxe Edition owners. Our Game Pass page lists what else joined in October.
