Until Dawn 2 release date: Jan. 28, 2027, only on PS5, with Dacre Montgomery and Peter Stormare in the cast

The sequel to PlayStation’s 2015 horror hit has a date, a price and a cast. Here’s when Until Dawn 2 comes out, who’s in it and what each edition includes.

When does Until Dawn 2 come out?

On Thursday, Jan. 28, 2027, only on PS5. Firesprite announced the date on Sept. 3, 2026, during PlayStation’s State of Play, after revealing the game on June 2, 2026, for 2027. PlayStation’s official page labels it a PlayStation exclusive, and Sony hasn’t announced a PC version.

How much is it, and what are the editions?

PlayStation’s official page lists the Standard Edition at $49.99. Pre-orders opened on Sept. 10, 2026, and pre-ordering any edition adds two Dr. Hill costumes, the Until Dawn Classic costume and the Until Dawn 2 Island costume, each with a Dr. Hill bobblehead collectible hidden in the game.

The Digital Deluxe Edition adds the Y2K Neon Vibes Pack, with neon throwback costumes for all eight playable characters, and Dioramas of Death, a gallery that lets you revisit every death from new angles. Deluxe pre-orders get the pre-order bonuses too.

Who is in the Until Dawn 2 cast?

The eight playable characters are the members of Dead True, a hit paranormal channel whose scares are mostly staged: Owen, Mina, Nate, Reagan, Izzy, Luke, Josie and Cameron. Firesprite has named part of the cast so far. Dacre Montgomery plays Owen, the channel’s cocky star, Camila Senna plays Mina, its conflicted co-host, Spence Moore II plays Nate and Sarah Catherine Hook plays Izzy, the team’s new intern.

Gia Kim plays Yoona, a survivor of a supernatural attack whom the crew meets at HorrorCon in Sydney, and Peter Stormare returns as Dr. Hill, the role from the first game. The actors for Reagan, Luke, Josie and Cameron haven’t been announced.

What is Until Dawn 2 about?

After a stunt goes viral, Dead True lands a deal with a big TV network, and its first fully funded episode takes the crew to Akishima Island, a remote South Pacific island abandoned since a luxury resort’s mysterious shutdown in the 1970s. The island hides centuries-old secrets that are hungry for vengeance, and for the first time the crew faces something real.

As in the original, your choices decide who survives. Firesprite says relationships within the crew matter more than ever, with some story branches depending on where things stand between characters, and even small moments can set off a Butterfly Effect. The pre-order trailer shows choices such as whether Owen follows a signal to find Nate or crosses a bridge to a strangely lively bar, and whether Mina sacrifices the crew’s chicken on camera.

Who is making it?

Firesprite, a PlayStation Studios team, is developing Until Dawn 2 as its first release since Horizon Call of the Mountain, and it wrote the story with AdHoc Studio, the team behind Dispatch. Firesprite calls it a standalone experience, so you don’t need to have played the first game. The original Until Dawn came out on PS4 in 2015.

On PS5, the game supports 4K visuals, 3D audio and the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and the ESRB rates it M.
