The Last of Us Part 3Explainer
The Last of Us Part 3 release date: Naughty Dog hasn't announced it, and Intergalactic comes first
The Last of Us Part 3 has no release date, because Naughty Dog hasn't announced it. The studio's next game is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, revealed for PS5 on Dec. 12, 2024, and still without a release date. The Last of Us Part II came out on June 19, 2020, seven years after the original 2013 game, and since then Naughty Dog has released the Part I remake on Sept. 2, 2022, and Part II Remastered on Jan. 19, 2024.

Naughty Dog hasn’t announced The Last of Us Part 3, and the studio’s next game is something else entirely. Here’s what’s official.
Is The Last of Us Part 3 announced?
No. Naughty Dog and Sony haven’t announced The Last of Us Part 3, so there’s no trailer, date or platform. The studio’s next game is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a new science fiction franchise it revealed for PS5 on Dec. 12, 2024, after working on it since 2020. The PlayStation Store still lists its release date as to be confirmed.
Since The Last of Us Part II launched on June 19, 2020, Naughty Dog’s releases in the series have been new versions of existing games: the Part I remake on PS5 on Sept. 2, 2022, and Part II Remastered on PS5 on Jan. 19, 2024, followed by its PC version on April 3, 2025.
How long The Last of Us games have taken
The original The Last of Us came out in 2013, and Part II followed seven years later. Naughty Dog’s last two new games, Uncharted 4 and Part II, took about two and a half and three and a half years from reveal to release, and a third Last of Us game would also have to wait for Intergalactic, which hasn’t been dated. The same goes for Nathan Drake: Uncharted 5 isn’t announced either.
Whether a Part 3 would be a PS5 or PS6 game is unknowable for now. Sony hasn’t given a release date or even a name for its next console, and our PS6 release date and price page tracks what’s official.
Playing the series now
Both games are on PS5 and PC. On the PlayStation Store, The Last of Us Part I costs $69.99 and The Last of Us Part II Remastered $49.99, and both are in the PlayStation Plus Extra game catalog.
