Marvel's Wolverine New Game Plus: in the game since launch, with a higher level cap, more Strands and four extra Adaptations

Marvel's Wolverine has had New Game Plus since it launched on PS5 on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, so there's no update to wait for. Players carry their unlocks into New Game+ and play the campaign again with an increased level cap, more Strands for equipping Adaptations and four additional Adaptations, according to Sony's official Player's Guide. Logan's Nightmare Cabin covers the rest of the post-game, with Mission Replay and Nightmare Trials at any time. That's a big change from Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which got New Game+ on March 7, 2024, about four and a half months after launch.

Marvel’s Wolverine shipped with New Game Plus, so there’s no patch to wait for. Here’s what carries over, what New Game+ adds and how the post-game works, with the latest patches and the DLC picture.

Does Marvel’s Wolverine have New Game Plus?

Yes. New Game+ has been part of Marvel’s Wolverine since launch on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, on PS5, so it doesn’t depend on a patch. Sony’s official Player’s Guide lays it out plainly: carry your unlocks into New Game+ and experience the story again. None of Insomniac’s patch notes mention it, because the mode was there from day one.

Marvel’s Wolverine was the most downloaded PS5 game on PlayStation Store in the US and Canada in September, as our PS Store top downloads page shows.

What carries over and what’s new in New Game+

Everything you’ve unlocked comes with you. New Game+ then pushes the build further with three changes from Sony’s guide: an increased level cap, more Strands and four additional Adaptations.

Strands matter most. Adaptations are equippable perks, unlocked as AP raises your Adaptation Level, and each one sits in a Strand. The first playthrough caps you at 10 equipped Adaptations, so extra Strands in New Game+ mean a bigger loadout, and the four new Adaptations change how fights play out. Defensive picks such as Tough Skinned and Healing Dangerously can share space with aggressive ones like Barrage Recharge and Enraging Sprint.

Logan’s Nightmare Cabin, Mission Replay and collectibles

As the story progresses, Logan’s Nightmare Cabin opens up. From there, you replay missions and Nightmare Trials at any time, and Sony says every level-specific trophy and collectible can be earned through Mission Replay, so a missed item never forces a full restart.

The collectibles feed progression. Whisky Bottles give AP toward your next Adaptation Level, Nightmare Doors lead to Trials that also pay AP, with Gauntlet trials rewarding pieces of new outfits and claws, and Material Crates hold materials for new suits and permanent Health upgrades.

Difficulty settings

Marvel’s Wolverine offers a selection of difficulty settings. Insomniac’s accessibility list adds Challenge Level options and separate settings for enemy health, enemy damage, dodge and parry timing and game speed, so New Game+ can be as punishing or as relaxed as you want.

How Wolverine compares with Insomniac’s Spider-Man games

The first Marvel’s Spider-Man launched on Sept. 7, 2018, and by Oct. 23, 2018, Insomniac said players who had earned the Platinum trophy were already jumping into New Game+. Insomniac’s last big game made fans wait longer: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched on Oct. 20, 2023, and New Game+ arrived with version 1.002 on March 7, 2024, together with Mission Replay. Wolverine skips that wait, with New Game+ and Mission Replay on day one.

Updates and DLC

Insomniac has posted notes for five updates: 1.001.004 for launch, 1.001.005 on Sept. 18, 1.001.006 on Sept. 25, 1.002.000 on Oct. 1, which brought QSSR upscaling to PS5, and 1.002.001 on Oct. 6, which adds a toggle for story Scent trails on the Hint button, R3 by default.

Insomniac hasn’t announced story DLC. As of Oct. 22, 2026, PlayStation Store lists one add-on, the Digital Deluxe Edition upgrade for $10, with five suits, five claws and three Technique Points. The game costs $69.99, or $79.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. For a PC version, see our Marvel’s Wolverine PC release date page.

This page is updated as soon as Insomniac releases the next Marvel’s Wolverine update or announces DLC.
