Split Fiction DLC: the game has no expansion, its only add-on is the soundtrack, and here's what Hazelight has done since

Split Fiction has no DLC, and Hazelight hasn’t announced an expansion. Here’s what the game’s only add-on is, what extra content the full game already has and what Hazelight has released since.

Does Split Fiction have DLC?

Split Fiction has no story DLC or expansion. Hazelight Studios and EA released it on March 6, 2025, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, and on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, and the only add-on Steam lists is the Split Fiction Original Soundtrack.

The game also has a free Friend’s Pass, a separate download that lets a partner play the whole game with you without buying it. Both are optional, and neither adds new levels.

Is Split Fiction DLC coming?

Hazelight and EA haven’t announced any. Hazelight’s Split Fiction posts since launch have covered its sales milestones, its Steam Awards nomination, discounts, the soundtrack and the Hazelight Collection. The last update notes on Steam date from March 17, 2025.

That fits Hazelight’s track record. A Way Out and It Takes Two each shipped as a complete co-op adventure and never got a story expansion, and the studio has followed its games with ports and features instead. Expected price for a Split Fiction story DLC: about $19.99, our estimate.

The extra content already in the game

Split Fiction hides its bonus levels inside the main story. Side Stories are optional portals that appear when the simulation tries to steal unfinished stories that Mio and Zoe wrote when they were younger, and each one drops both players into a different world with its own rules.

Hazelight has teased a daring mountain climb filled with Giants, riding Sandfish across a desert, snowboarding down a mountain under heavy fire, turning into pigs to find out how sausages are made, a water-skiing chase and a spacewalk gone wrong. Each Side Story sends the pair back to the main level afterward.

The soundtrack, the only add-on

The Split Fiction Original Soundtrack came out on Steam on Nov. 18, 2025, for $9.99. Composers Gustaf Grefberg and Jonatan Järpehag wrote its 45 tracks, moving between the sci-fi and fantasy sides of the story. The It Takes Two soundtrack arrived on Steam the same day.

The Hazelight Collection

Hazelight’s newest release is the Hazelight Collection, out on Oct. 15, 2026, which bundles its three co-op games: Split Fiction, It Takes Two and A Way Out. Each one keeps its Friend’s Pass, so a single owner can bring a friend along for free on any of them.

Friend’s Pass and crossplay

The Friend’s Pass lets anyone who owns Split Fiction invite a friend who doesn’t, for the entire adventure, as many times as you like. It works across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S and Switch 2 with crossplay, which needs a free EA Account.

Two players who don’t own the game can also try the opening stages together through the Friend’s Pass trial and keep their progress if one of them buys it. Mio writes science fiction and Zoe writes fantasy, and the whole game is built for exactly two players, in split-screen or online.

What Split Fiction is about

Mio and Zoe are two writers who visit the new headquarters of Rader Publishing in pursuit of a lucrative publishing deal. An accident puts both of them inside the same simulation, a machine designed to steal their creative ideas, and they jump back and forth between their own sci-fi and fantasy fiction while trying to break free with their memories intact.

The main story keeps changing what you do. One minute you’re raising dragons, the next you’re fleeing the law on futuristic motorcycles, outrunning trolls or dodging hover cars thrown by a robotic parking attendant. Hazelight’s earlier games each had a key word, trust for A Way Out and collaboration for It Takes Two, and for Split Fiction the studio picked friendship. The game is Steam Deck Verified, and on Switch 2, GameShare lets a player on the original Switch join from one copy.

Price and sales

Split Fiction costs $49.99 on Steam and on the Nintendo US eShop for Switch 2, as our Split Fiction Switch 2 page details. These were the Steam prices on Oct. 19, 2026.

Hazelight said the game sold 2 million copies in its first week, by March 14, 2025, and 4 million by May 15, 2025. A sequel hasn’t been announced either, as our Split Fiction 2 release date page explains.
