Split Fiction 2 release date: Hazelight hasn't announced a sequel, and its games have come three to four years apart
There's no Split Fiction 2 release date, because Hazelight Studios and EA haven't announced a sequel. Hazelight hasn't announced its next game either. Split Fiction came out on March 6, 2025, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, and on Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, and Hazelight said it sold 4 million copies by May 15, 2025. The studio's three games so far came out in March 2018, March 2021 and March 2025, and its latest release is It Takes Two on Switch 2, out since Oct. 15, 2026.

Split Fiction sold 4 million copies in its first 10 weeks, but Hazelight hasn’t said what comes next. Here’s what Hazelight and EA have and haven’t announced.
When does Split Fiction 2 come out?
It doesn’t have a date, because Hazelight Studios and EA haven’t announced a sequel. Hazelight hasn’t announced its next game at all, so there’s no title, platform or year for it.
Every Hazelight game so far has been a new story with new characters, rather than a sequel. A Way Out came out in March 2018, It Takes Two on March 26, 2021, and Split Fiction on March 6, 2025, gaps of three and four years.
How did Split Fiction do?
Well enough to make a follow-up an obvious question. Hazelight said Split Fiction sold 2 million copies in its first week, by March 14, 2025, and 4 million by May 15, 2025. It came to Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, as a launch game, and was nominated for the Better With Friends award at the Steam Awards that December.
The game follows Mio and Zoe, two writers, one of sci-fi and one of fantasy, trapped inside their own stories. It’s built for exactly two players, in couch co-op with split-screen or online, and a free Friend’s Pass lets a partner who doesn’t own the game join you online for the whole story.
What has Hazelight released since?
Ports and updates for its older games. It Takes Two came to Switch 2 on Oct. 15, 2026, with a free upgrade for Switch owners and 60 fps in docked mode, and the same day Hazelight added online crossplay to It Takes Two on every platform except the original Switch. Hazelight also announced the Hazelight Collection on Steam on Oct. 15, with Split Fiction, It Takes Two and A Way Out.
It Takes Two’s sales give a sense of what a Hazelight game can do over time: the studio said it passed 20 million copies on Oct. 17, 2024, three and a half years after launch.
Where can you play Split Fiction now?
On PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, and on Nintendo Switch 2. Steam sells it for $49.99, and so does Nintendo’s US eShop, with no discount on either store when we checked on Oct. 17, 2026.
