The launch crowd thinned through spring, and the curve flattened over the summer. The average fell from 67,718 in July to 63,728 in August and 59,299 in September, and the last 30 days averaged 57,748 players at any moment.

All of it came without new cards or acts. Mega Crit shipped Major Update #1 on April 16 and Major Update #2 on June 18, then a run of beta patches that ended with v0.111.0 on Aug. 13. In August, the studio said it was moving to fewer, bigger updates to build an alternate Act 2, a new character and experimental game modes, and it skipped the Aug. 27 patch for its annual team break.

Valve ranks the chart by its own measure of play, so FiveM sits lower with a higher peak. Slay the Spire 2 drew more players than Arrowhead’s co-op shooter, as our Helldivers 2 player count page shows, and trails CD Projekt Red’s RPG, covered on our Cyberpunk 2077 player count page. For a $24.99 early access game from an independent studio, a 98,000 peak puts it among the most played games on Steam.

Mega Crit’s Sept. 25 newsletter says the team is back from its break, the next content is big and much of it is already in internal testing, but it gave no timeline. The same post teased a new, still hidden area of the Spire with a small, floating creature. Mega Crit estimates one to two years in early access before 1.0, as our Slay the Spire 2 release date page explains.

This page is updated as soon as Valve’s chart posts Slay the Spire 2’s Saturday and Sunday peaks or Mega Crit ships its next update.
