Warframe player count: 90,337 on Steam on Oct. 23, after Taubound pushed it past 103,000 on the road to Tau

Warframe is climbing toward its biggest update in years. Here’s how many people play Digital Extremes' action game, what Taubound did for it and what comes next on the road to Tau.

How many people play Warframe?

Warframe peaked at 90,337 concurrent players on Steam on Oct. 23, 2026, according to Valve’s most played chart, which ranked it No. 20, down from No. 16 a week earlier. At 4:55 a.m. ET on Oct. 24, 65,838 people were playing it on Steam.

Steam is one storefront. Warframe also runs on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android, and those players sit outside the Steam count.

Warframe’s big months follow its big moments. December 2025 reached 173,377 with The Old Peace, the closest any month has come to the July 2021 record, and July 2026 hit 157,162, the month TennoCon 2026 showed the Tau gameplay demo. The last 30 days averaged 61,810 players at any moment, about 37% above October 2025’s 45,257.

Epoch Operation: Taubound opened on Oct. 15 and runs until Nov. 17, and Digital Extremes says it won’t return. Playing as their Warframes, players collect Moonflesh on Eris and trade it to the Sentient mothership Praghasa, who needs the fuel to open a path to the Tau System. Everyone who has finished Vor’s Prize can reach Eris, with the usual Star Chart requirements lifted. A permanent Tau Prologue Quest arrived the same day.

The Oct. 16 peak was Warframe’s best day since Sept. 23, when Iceblade of Narin brought the 66th Warframe, Narin, the Yuvan Peak hub and a Banshee rework and drew 108,789. The daily peak lands around 10 a.m. ET.

Warframe drew a bigger peak than the four games ranked just above it, because Valve ranks the chart by its own measure of play rather than the daily high.
