Cyberpunk 2077 peaked at 124,145 concurrent players on Steam on Oct. 23, 2026, according to Valve's most played chart, its highest peak since October 2023, the month after Phantom Liberty came out. The jump follows the free Edgerunners 2 Update, update 2.5, released on Oct. 22, two days after Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premiered on Netflix, and a 70% discount that cuts the game to $17.99 on Steam until Monday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. ET. Cyberpunk 2077 rose to No. 8 on Valve's chart from No. 39 a week earlier, the only game in the top 10 without multiplayer, and 98,964 people were playing it at 3:24 a.m. ET on Oct. 24. Cyberpunk 2077 peaked at 124,145 concurrent players on Steam on Oct. 23, 2026, according to Valve’s most played chart. At 3:24 a.m. ET on Oct. 24, 98,964 people were playing it. The game climbed to No. 8 on the chart from No. 39 a week earlier.
Steam is one storefront. These numbers leave out players on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, Switch 2, GOG, the Epic Games Store and the Mac App Store.
Why Cyberpunk 2077 is climbing. Three things landed in the same week. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premiered on Netflix on Oct. 20, with all 10 episodes at once. CD Projekt Red released the free Edgerunners 2 Update, update 2.5, on Oct. 22, announcing it on Steam at 6:06 a.m. ET, with the Clampdown and Welcome to Paradise side quests, dual-wielding pistols and revolvers, cyberware skins and console mods. Steam also cut the game by 70%.
The same pattern played out in September 2022, when the first Edgerunners season and patch 1.6 pushed Cyberpunk 2077 to 136,724 players on Steam.

Sales and what comes next. CD Projekt said on July 3, 2026, that Cyberpunk 2077 had sold 40 million copies, counting the Ultimate Edition, and its half-year report of Sept. 2 put Phantom Liberty at 15 million. The Switch 2 version of update 2.5 follows shortly after the PC and console release, according to CD Projekt Red.
