The 2006 Game of the Year runs on Nintendo’s console with every expansion included. Here’s what Oblivion Remastered costs on Switch 2, how it runs and which edition gets a real cartridge.

When did Oblivion Remastered come out on Switch 2?

On Aug. 11, 2026, about 16 months after its April 22, 2025, launch on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. Nintendo’s US eShop sells the Standard Edition for $49.99, the same as Steam, and it’s rated M for Mature by the ESRB. Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos rebuilt the game’s visuals in Unreal Engine 5 and added sprinting, reworked combat and a redesigned leveling system.

Every edition has the full story. The Standard Edition includes the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions plus eight smaller add-ons, from Fighter’s Stronghold and Spell Tomes to The Orrery and the Horse Armor Pack. The Deluxe Edition, at $59.99, adds the Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armor, weapon and horse armor sets, and Nintendo’s store sells a $9.99 upgrade if you already own the base game.

Is there a physical copy?

Yes, but only as the Deluxe Edition. Bethesda says the physical Deluxe Edition is a cartridge containing the full base game, with both expansions, the smaller add-ons and the Deluxe armor sets. The Standard Edition is digital only.

That matters for storage. Nintendo’s store data puts the digital game at about 61.7 GB, so if you buy it digitally, you may need a microSD Express card when your internal storage is full.

How does it run on Switch 2?

At 30 fps in both modes. Bethesda lists 900p in handheld mode and 1080p docked, with DLSS anti-aliasing and the performance optimizations made to the original Remastered release. The game also supports touch controls, HD Rumble, gyro aiming, GameChat and Joy-Con 2 mouse mode with either controller.

Motion controls work in docked and tabletop mode. You swing the right Joy-Con 2 horizontally for a standard attack and vertically for a power attack, and the left one casts spells with a shake, blocks when you tilt it right and enters stealth when you tilt it back. You can swap the two, which Bethesda notes helps left-handed players. Only English has full voice acting; eight other languages, including Spanish, Japanese and Simplified Chinese, have text only.

What updates has it gotten?

Two so far on Switch 2. Patch 1.0, the day one patch on Aug. 11, 2026, fixed a long list of crashes during quests, in menus and when loading saves. Patch 1.1, on Sept. 17, 2026, fixed more crashes, including ones when opening the map, switching to the third-person camera or using the enchanting and spell making altars, plus a few gameplay and visual issues.
