Fallout 3 Remastered release date: Bethesda confirmed it in July 2026, but there's no date yet

Bethesda says a Fallout 3 remaster is real, but it hasn’t put a date on it. Here’s what’s official, what isn’t and what to watch next.

When does Fallout 3 Remastered come out?

There’s no release date. On July 17, 2026, Bethesda Game Studios said in a note to players that it has been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, adding that “we’re not announcing any dates today.” It also didn’t give a release year, a window or a list of platforms.

Nothing official has changed since. Bethesda hasn’t shared new details about either remaster after the July note, and release dates shared online haven’t been confirmed by Bethesda. That also means a countdown isn’t possible yet, because there’s no official date to count down to.

Is Fallout 3 Remastered coming to PS5, Xbox or Switch 2?

Bethesda hasn’t announced platforms. The closest example is its last remaster, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which Bethesda Game Studios made with Virtuos. It came out on April 22, 2025, on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC, launched on Game Pass the same day, and reached Nintendo Switch 2 on Aug. 11, 2026. It costs $49.99 on Steam.

That’s a useful reference, not a promise. Bethesda hasn’t said the Fallout remasters will use the same platforms, price or approach.

Will Bethesda show Fallout 3 Remastered on Fallout Day?

Bethesda hasn’t said. There’s no Fallout Day broadcast this year, and the official schedule for Oct. 19 to 23, 2026, lists community spotlights, Fallout Shelter updates and Fallout 4 Creations, partnerships, a first look at Fallout 76’s World Pets update and the celebration on Oct. 23. Neither remaster appears on it. See the full Fallout Day 2026 schedule for each day’s news.

Fallout: New Vegas remastered release date

The New Vegas remaster doesn’t have a date either. It was confirmed in the same July 17, 2026, note, with no year or platforms. The original Fallout: New Vegas was developed by Obsidian Entertainment and came out on Oct. 19, 2010. Bethesda said in the same note that Obsidian is working with it on a new Fallout project, but it didn’t say what that project is or who is making either remaster.

The note also confirmed that Fallout 5 is in preproduction on Creation Engine 3, while The Elder Scrolls VI is the studio’s main focus. For that timeline, see what’s known about The Elder Scrolls 6.

Playing Fallout 3 before the remaster

The original Fallout 3, from Bethesda Game Studios, first came out on Oct. 28, 2008. When we checked Steam on Oct. 17, 2026, Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition was on sale for $4.99, down from $19.99, and the base game and Fallout: New Vegas were each $2.49, down from $9.99.

There’s also a new Fallout 3 story on the way in another game. Bethesda Game Studios says Raven Rock, a major Fallout 76 expansion planned for 2027, is a prequel story to Fallout 3.

This page is updated as soon as Bethesda announces a release date or platforms for Fallout 3 Remastered or the Fallout: New Vegas remaster.
