Next Ratchet & Clank game: Insomniac hasn't announced a follow-up to Rift Apart
Insomniac Games hasn't announced the next Ratchet & Clank game. The latest one, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, came out on PS5 on June 11, 2021, and the studio has since released Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Marvel's Wolverine. The only new Ratchet & Clank game in the works is Ranger Rumble, a free mobile hero shooter that still doesn't have a global launch date.
Rift Apart turned 5 in June 2026, and Ratchet & Clank fans are asking what’s next. Here’s what Insomniac and Sony have actually announced.
When is the next Ratchet & Clank game coming out?
There’s no release date, because Insomniac Games and Sony haven’t announced a new main Ratchet & Clank game. They haven’t revealed a title, a platform or a trailer, and dates shared online, including 2029, haven’t been confirmed by Insomniac or Sony.
The latest main game is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which came out on PS5 on June 11, 2021. By simple arithmetic, it has been more than five years since then. For other big games that still don’t have dates, see our list of upcoming games in 2027.
What Insomniac has made since Rift Apart
Insomniac has spent those years on Marvel games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 came out on Oct. 20, 2023, and Marvel’s Wolverine followed on PS5 on Sept. 15, 2026. The studio hasn’t said what it’s making next. If you’re waiting for Wolverine on PC, see what Sony has said on the Marvel’s Wolverine PC release date page.
Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble on mobile
The one new Ratchet & Clank game that’s been announced is Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, a free-to-play multiplayer hero shooter for phones from the French studio Oh Bibi, made with PlayStation Studios and Insomniac. In it, Captain Qwark runs a combat simulation to find new Galactic Rangers, with 12 heroes at launch, including new Lombaxes designed with Insomniac, and six modes, from team battles to a battle royale-inspired mode.
After soft launches in Canada, the Nordics, France and Asia, pre-registration opened worldwide on the App Store and Google Play on July 15, 2026. Sony hasn’t announced a global launch date, and the game wasn’t on the US App Store when we checked on Oct. 17, 2026.
How long between Ratchet & Clank games
The series started on PS2 in November 2002, and the gaps between main games have grown. Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus came out in November 2013, the Ratchet & Clank remake on PS4 in April 2016, and Rift Apart in 2021. By simple arithmetic, that’s about two and a half years and then five, and Insomniac hasn’t given any timing for the next one.
Where to play Ratchet & Clank now
Rift Apart is on PS5 and PC. The PC version, made with Nixxes, came out on July 26, 2023, and it’s $59.99 on Steam.
