Ghost of Tsushima 2 release date: the follow-up is Ghost of Yōtei, out since Oct. 2, 2025
There's no game called Ghost of Tsushima 2. Sucker Punch's follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima is Ghost of Yōtei, which came out on PS5 on Oct. 2, 2025. It's set 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima, with a new hero, the lone mercenary Atsu, in the lands around Mount Yōtei in Ezo, at the northern edge of Japan.
Plenty of fans still search for Ghost of Tsushima 2. The follow-up already exists, it just has a different name.
Is there a Ghost of Tsushima 2?
Not by that name. Sucker Punch’s next game after Ghost of Tsushima is Ghost of Yōtei, which came out on PS5 on Oct. 2, 2025. It’s set in the same world, but it isn’t a direct continuation of Jin Sakai’s story, so Sony never called it Ghost of Tsushima 2.
Ghost of Tsushima came out on PS4 in July 2020. By simple arithmetic, Yōtei arrived about five years later. Sucker Punch hasn’t announced what it’s making after Yōtei.
What Ghost of Yōtei is about
Ghost of Yōtei is set in rural Japan in the 1600s, 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima. The hero is Atsu, a haunted lone mercenary, on a quest across Ezo, at the northern edge of Japan, that leads to the lands around Mount Yōtei.
Sucker Punch has kept adding to it. The free Ghost of Yōtei Legends online co-op mode arrived on March 10, 2026, and the Complete Edition followed on Oct. 1, 2026, with the Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion.
How Ghost of Yōtei connects to Tsushima
The clearest link is Most Wanted, a single-player combat survival mode in the Complete Edition in which Jin Sakai, the hero of Ghost of Tsushima, is a playable character. Outside that mode, Yōtei tells its own story, so you don’t need to play Ghost of Tsushima first.
Where to play both games
Ghost of Yōtei is on PS5 only. The Complete Edition costs $69.99 on the PlayStation Store, and owners of the base game can upgrade for $14.99. Sony hasn’t announced a PC version, and what it has said is on our Ghost of Yōtei PC release date page.
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut came out on PS5 on Aug. 20, 2021, and on PC on May 16, 2024, and it’s $59.99 on Steam. Sucker Punch’s older superhero series hasn’t returned either, as our inFamous 4 page explains.
