Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 pushed the Call of Duty app on Steam to 198,308 concurrent players on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, its launch day, according to Valve's most-played chart, which ranked the app seventh on Steam, up from 32nd a week earlier. On Steam, MW4 runs inside that app alongside Black Ops 7 and Warzone, so the peak covers all three. At 3:13 a.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 24, 152,617 players were in it, more than five times Battlefield 6's 29,439 at the same moment. MW4 was also the No. 1 top seller on Steam in the US on Oct. 24, at $69.99. Activision hasn't shared sales or player totals across PS5, Xbox Series X and S, PC and Switch 2, and MW4 joins Game Pass only in holiday 2027.

Why the Steam number covers three games. Steam sells MW4 as its own product for $69.99, but the game launches inside the Call of Duty app, which Steam lists as supporting Modern Warfare 4, Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone. The separate MW4 listing showed 1 player on Oct. 24, because the players sit in the shared app. On Oct. 16, the day MW4’s campaign early access began, Call of Duty ranked 32nd, and early access and the Oct. 23 launch carried it to seventh.

Activision hasn’t announced sales or player totals for MW4.
