When did Hades 2 come out physically?
On Nov. 20, 2025, when Supergiant Games released a retail version in stores worldwide for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. It arrived almost two months after the digital launch of version 1.0 on Sept. 25, 2025, on PC, Switch 2 and Switch.
The retail version comes on a standard physical game card, not a game-key card, so the full game is on the card and you can play it without downloading it first. Supergiant still recommends connecting to the internet to get the latest updates. The packaging highlights the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, but the same card also holds the version for the original Switch, so it works on both consoles.
Is there a physical version on PS5 or Xbox?
No. Hades II came to PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, including Game Pass, on April 14, 2026, as a digital release, and Supergiant’s FAQ says it has no plans for physical editions of those versions at this time.
Both console versions run at 120 frames per second, and they launched alongside a patch that added bonus content and quality-of-life improvements to every version of the game.
What’s in the box?
Along with the game card, the retail edition includes a full-color 32-page Character Compendium booklet, a reversible cover slip and a download code for the Hades II Original Soundtrack, which has nearly four hours of music. Supergiant also sells official merchandise, such as a Frinos plush, separately.

The digital version costs $29.99 on Steam. Supergiant’s announcement of the retail edition didn’t include a price.
Hades II also has cross-saves between the Switch and Switch 2 versions and the Steam and Epic Games Store versions, through an in-game menu. Since launch, the game has won Best Action Game at The Game Awards and received two big post-launch patches, the latest with hotfixes through July 28, 2026.
